Ooh, I hope Shane Clayton is a betting man.

If we finish behind Spurs this season I support the sacking of every person at the club.

FWIW in the disgusting prospect of a joint City/Spurs team we'd have half a dozen of the first XI at least IMO.
haha Moomba forever giving it large and ultimately forever falling flat on his face. Incapable of learning lifes harsh lessons I am afraid. Citeh at this point remain a collection of individual talent - and with half your players filed under "mercenary" that is just what you will remain.

Spurs will finish above both Citeh and Arsenal

Pot calling the kettle black.

Last season I predicted we'd finish just outside top 4 and we did.

Spurs supporters (including yourself) have been predicting top 4 for half a decade and you've only now got one right.

So exactly how have I forever been giving it large and falling flat on my face?

And your lot have been predicting that you'll finish above Arsenal since I've been on BF. Just as unrealistic a prospect today as it's been for years.

It's clear the gap from 2nd to 3rd-5th is pretty clear, but the 3 sides in that battle for the top 4 cant be seperated really.

Arsenal - have the talent in midfield that will mean they are there abouts as usual. But concerns about the keeper haven't been fixed, and another midget CB has been signed. Chamakh (sp?) is an improvement on Eduardo

City - Strengthened a real weak spot with J.Boateng, Yaya will be a massive plus to that midfield. Still dont think Adebayor can be trusted to be that 20 goal striker, if they signed another out and out superstar forward to play with Tevez they would easily leapfrog both the London sides. Silva will be a letdown IMO

Us - Natural improvement will have us go close in all positions bar 2. At CB will Dawson and Bassong continue to improve, will King be able to play once a week. IMO we should start playing Naughton at RB and have Corluka at CB, he is the sort of smart defender needed with a Dawson/Bassong type. Up front we have strikers that are PL standard but if we want to take the next step we need more, a Berbatov-style signing where he came in and looked a class above the rest of the team. At least this time with the likes of Lennon, Bale and Modric in the midfield it wouldn't be a class above

With a bit of luck Sandro may be a huge improvement on Palacios, maybe not straight away. Either way we have good trio that can play defensive mids in Palacios, Sandro and Huddlestone.

I think we need a left sided winger or full back for cover. Our only two left full backs are Bale and Assou-Ekotto, and they could very well be our starting left full back and mid combo.

Half a dozen? Name them.

This would be a combined Spurs/City team.

Gomes

Corluka-King-Dawson-BAE

Lennon-Modric-De Jong-Bale

Tevez-Defoe

Given and Toure are quality but Gomes and Modric are better.

Given, Boateng, Kompany, Kolarov (when he signs), Toure(why you're comparing him to Modric I don't know), De Jong, Bellend, Johnson, Silva, Tevez and Adebayor would all have strong claims. Lescott if he gets fitness would join him.

So how much are we betting that City will finish below Spurs, Liverpool, Villa and Everton?

Kompany and Lescott better than King and Dawson? Johnson better than Bale? You might as well just list the entire City squad.

Also, why are you putting so much faith in a bunch of players that have no English Premier League experience? Some of them will take a while to adjust. Some of them will be flops. Believe me, we have been down that path.

Just because I have an opinion doesn't mean I have to bet on it. I said Spurs would beat Chelsea and Arsenal at WHL last season and you were quick to shut me down...

On form over the course of a season I would have Kompany up there with King and Dawson. Lescott could be IMO with an injury free run, but he's got to show he's capable of that. Dawson and King both had excellent seasons but I'm not convinced by either (King more for his fitness). Let's see if Dawson can back up his one good season in the premier league so far.

You don't seem to have much idea about our players. I wouldn't have Johnson up against Bale, I wouldn't have Toure going up against Modric.

And I didn't say they would make the team, just that they would have strong claims.

As for our new players you've got to judge on what you know about them. If Messi joined Spurs would you have him sat on the bench because he's not proven in English football?

As for Chelsea and Arsenal I still think you were over optimstic to expect (not hope for or believe it possible) two wins. But football is football and any side can win any game on a given day.

Combined team for me would be

Gomes
Corluka Kompany Dawson Kolarov
Silva Modric Yaya Bale
Tevez Adebayor

City wins 6 to 5

Id also agree with moomba. If City dont finish above Spurs this year Mancini will be sacked. They have a much better team overall in particular upfront. You have Defoe and Crouch they have Tevez and Adebayor. Enough said really

Well said Butts. We all now it is up front where we need to strengthen. I expect Harry will bring in two stikers to fight it out with Crouch and Defoe. The other two will go. Hopefully one of those signings will be a marquee one.

If we go into the new seson with last years squad we will drop out of the top 4. That is the nature of the prem, you have to strengthen each year.

Im as Spurs as the next bloke but they are going to finish above us next season for sure.

I have a feeling they have a big big name striker coming in before the window shuts. (Drogba, Torres etc)

Lennon is going to have a massive season. I told anyone who would listen at the start of the last one that that was going to be the season he finally added the final ball to his game and he did it emphatically. Would have been in the team of the season if he didnt get injured near the end.

Silva I think will take time to get used to the league and the physical attention he will get.

I'll wait for them to sign another striker and also to see what bloody formation they will play before deciding where they finish.

lol we all saw how man city played in america, and they were terrible, one thing we have over city is the fact we can actually play as a team instead of relying on individuals and mancini continues to go for players that are selfish (balotelli) and players he already has are selfish enough as it is tevez, adebayor and i can see silva bein a selfish player at man city so thats one thing we have over them is that we are a champion team more so than a team of champions

Yes, the American pre-season jolly where the likes of Cunningham, Mee, Boyata, Kay, Tutte, Nimely have all got starts and half a dozen of our best XI haven't made an appearance is the ideal way to judge a team.

The year you got two points in the first couple of months, IIRC you blitzed it in the pre-season.

And no offence, but I don't think finishing 4th qualifies anyone as a champion team.

Think about it, its not up front where we need strenghtening. We have one of the biggest players in Crouchy who is nearly impossible to mark, JD who was one of best forwards in the Premiership last year. Super-sub Pav on the bench who when is asked to does his job and works hard and then Keano (who i must admit i am not a fan of) but come one? he is experience and is a player that can turn a match on its head in a heart beat.
Our main concern is at the back. Poor Leds is not a week in week out player, Woody again he's never right, Daws and Bassong can't do it on their own. In Europe Charlie and especially BAE will be torn apart so if you think about it we should hurry up a sign a Micah richards and one more wing back i believe

True, also shows the younger players coming through are as selfish as all the others
