When will Gallas play?

Alongside Dawson when Ledley is crocked, or in the side ahead of Dawson alongside Ledley?

Not sure it's the move you need, especially with the 25 man limit on squad size.

Fabiano sounds like he wants to join, but only if he gets the big bucks.

I would have thought Daws is a permanent fixture in the team. Gallas will play when King is injured IMO.

Bassong is still a bit raw and Woodgate's career is probably over.

We definitely need another CB. Squad size is fairly irrelevant IMO with Bale, Sandro, GDS, Rose and Walker all being 21 or under and players like Woodgate, Jenas and Alnwick not getting in the 25. Leaves us with a squad of 20 so Gallas would be 21.

Nice gentle run-out for the lads tonight. Thought we controlled the game well and was never in any danger throughout the 90 minutes.

Reality check in order.....

Oh dear, well that was a bit of a let off. Looks like our squad may not be quite as deep as some may of thought. That was shambolic at times tonight. I think Harry might of tinkered too much but at least he got some big questions answered:

1) What the **** has happned to Palicious?
2) Tom Huddlestone is stepping up and cannot be dropped
3) Dawson is shit without king
4) Esso-Akouto is too unpredictale game to game
5) Bassong is not at the level required
6) Pavlychenko is an enigma.
7) Corulka is a ****.
8) Defoe has gone right off the boil

So least Harry found out these things now while he can still rectify.

Tonight was a trip back to the bad old days (which we all know will never completely dissapear).

The plastic pitch did not help, but Harry cannot paper over the cracks on this one. It was too big-a-game to simply put it down to an off-day. And I still remember pompey at Wembley. Get your chequebook out Harry!

On a positive note, we're still in this..

COYS!!
Just posting, belatedly, to say I was at the game. I had to drive back to Zurich after the game so I've been playing catchup all week

They just couldn't seem to get the length right on any of their passes. 3-2 in the end was a good result.

COYS!

Rumours about Fabiano signing are becoming louder and louder. Would be an excellent signing if true and I'd be expecting an Arsenal style title challenge if we can get him.

Think he will still be cup tied according to the rules but I'm ok with that. Realistically we aren't going to win the CL but we can qualify for it again and someone like Fabiano can make that happen.

Diarra would also help.

Bale was incredible!! 4 assists was outstanding, would like to see him and Lennon swap wings a bit more mid games because we could see him hit the back of the net quite a bit cutting inside onto the left.

So we've made it, Fabiano in Keane out im thinking. Cant think of any other quality striker we can go for. A late loan bid for Ibra perhaps? Diarra is a must, Palacios will cost us points in the CL for sure.
4-5-1 with Hudd-Modric supported with Diarra behind them would be pretty good

Decent draw. A giant and a couple of very good teams. We are a chance to finish second if we can avoid defeat away against Bremen and Twente. Our home form is so good that 6 points from 9 would have to be minimum requirement.

I wanted Bayern but hopefully we get them next season.

Not overly difficult. Werder without Ozul and Twente without McLaren will be slightly weaker you would think. Who knows Inter without Mourinho and with Rafa as a replacement may not be so invincible. 6-7 points at home, 2-4 points away and we would be through and thats not setting the bar too high is it?

Quiet on the signings front. Keane to Newcastle to the latest, Huntelaar in if AC get Ibra is another one. Apparently Diarra's wages are too high

Didn't watch it but heard that no player actually played well. is that right?
Yeh pretty much. Everyone was just so flat and it looked like even they were waiting for something to happen. we had most of possesion but as usual when a weaker team (wigan, stoke, hull, wolves) park the bus at the lane we just cant seem to break them down! wigan had about 4 good chances to score (3 in the space of about 2 mins, which the last chance they put away) compared to really our 1 or 2 good chances.

Crouch went off at half time with an injury but we would just put the high ball in for defoe and pav which just didnt work! Yet another game where it is clear that we need a quality striker. And Palacios will cost us points the way hes going, Hopefully sandro will be avaliable for our next game after the break.

Pretty shit performance, if we don't sign a top striker before the window closes, there will be dark days ahead in the Premier League for us.
