We haven't seen enough of him at CB to know yet. Under Mourinho since the restart he looked very good there, but it's only a small sample size. I'd have him comfortably ahead of Sanchez

Looked better without him though. Under Mourinho he might end up being ok because with little to no pressing and no high line his snail like pace won't be as exposed

15/16 he played as a DM without the ball that when we had possession dropped in to form a back 3 in attack.
16/17 he played as part of a back 3.

Two title challenges where we had the best defence and he was part of it.

Was listening to a Vodcast from Al Gold tonight. Ran through all his problems and most stemmed from that appendicitis. Even after recovery the cocktail of meds he had to take were weakening his immune system and he was getting lots of niggling injuries.

Give him time IMO. Mourinho trusts him

He had peak Vertonghen and Alderweireld beside him. He was also quicker than he is now and he was never quick to begin with
Mourinho's style will be able to hide his deficiencies better than Pochettino could

Yep. Was quite happy with the performance.

Can see the style slowly coming together. Aurier bathed Zaha and Lo Celso was quite good.

I saw the first half only and they were well on top. Jose commented afterwards it is the hardest game to have the guys firing. Cited Inter winning the title on the final day as being hard as everyone was tense and in games that don’t matter the intensity is down.

We should be all over this. 45m pounds for a top quality CM/DM who can also play at CB if needed. Very similar qualities to peak Wanyama but with better ball control and shooting!
