The whole point of the CL for a club of our current stature is getting glamour ties since we are no hope winning the whole thing. We've got four in our group stage! Dortmund will be a very interesting battle for second. We are probably the underdogs

Foyth still expected to join and CCV to go out on loan to Shef Utd. They've been playing 3 at the back and it could be a good chance for him to get some senior football. Good bit of business imo CCV does need to start playing senior football, Foyth can afford to have a year training with our first team this year as he has already played a bit of senior football back in Argentina

Probably need a win against Dortmund to go through, gonna be tough without Dele for the first 3 games, Rose and Lamela likely not back either.
We need Aurier now, Ronaldo will rinse KWP or Trippier.
Was on the same wavelength when I saw the draw. 4 points against Dortmund or out.

Poch's presser today clarified earlier comments on transfers, clarified that when he said he wanted 4 players he meant 4 players + the goalkeeper so we should still be chasing 3 outfielders. Foyth and Aurier so I'm guessing the 3rd is the deadline day deal for Barkley.

Do we now attract the best talent playing in these glamour ties or did we simply make up the numbers for a couple of years whilst the Man U's had a break from the UCL?

Get a feeling this is karma paying us a smack right up the arse by being stagnant in the window. Couldn't have picked a worse group to be involved in.

The group your draw does nothing to level of player you can sign. I just don't see the point in playing 6-8 games against sides like CSKA, Kobenhaven, Benfica, Standard Liege, Maribor etc. when there's some real genuine top aides we can play against.

At most we'd only make a QF we may as well play against some great teams and be excited about the comp rather than do what Leicester did and play mid range teams before being knocked out

Would be nice to see us go deeper into the UCL, even if it were against mid range sides.

It's not gonna be a whole season of "this shit" lol. We started pretty unconvincing in the last two seasons also. Poch (and Levy) do not get things firing quick enough - it's not good enough but we have to recognise it. It's not panic stations yet - let's see who comes in by the end of the window.

After a few hours of not getting back to sleep and reading Poch's comments it's clear we do have a Wembley issue. What is less concerning though is it's a mental issue. We mentally haven't seen out two games in a row there. That's not a trademark of Poch's sides. I say it's less concerning because we surely don't have this mental problem for 19 games it's just a matter of when really.

The actual mechanics of the stadium like Poch has said have no bearing on what has gone wrong. That would be a serious issue that we may not have fixed at all this season

The bigger problem for me is no matter how much Poch, the players and some supporters deny it, the fact is this Wembley thing is now not going to go away. The whole media and other supporters will be on it, which will bring unneeded pressure. Even if we win a couple of games comfortably, as soon as points are dropped it will be brought up again. Only ourselves to blame for the performances there last season though.

That equaliser today was probably more damaging than the Chelsea one. Doubly so because we are now going into an international break stewing on it
