You know the season is getting closer when the 426 memorial trophy is being discussed.

Hopefully there are some better times ahead in comparison to 2009 though.

Mauve a separate award for preaseason could be introduced, like the "Paul Wheatley Preseason Award" in recognition of the one time of year supporters actually looked forward to him getting the ball.

I'm in for this.

I say we give it to Miller or Juice now.

Hopefully we can call it the Nick Natanui award after he fades into oblivion after tonights game.. He sure looked the goods, even though his opponents from Essendon wernt much chop, Hope to see a few emergence type games from Jack Watts this year to show why he went at no: 1

Good work on the sticky. Always a great thread to cone back to week after week:D

Updated for Round 4.

Can I just point out that rather that work with half-votes as I tried to do last year, I've implemented a countback system whereby the player who has received the highest votes, the most number of times gets the nod.

For example, this week Moloney and Green both got 39, so I went back through the votes and Moloney was rated the better player (ie. given more votes) by more people than Green, therefore Beamer gets 8, Greeny 7.

I still am adamant that Davey's smother was the best moment in the game. Brissy had just kicked 32 unanswered goals and that looked to be another and maybe change the game. But BC it's your call :)

Can i just ask what '426' is referring to? Garry Lyon?
Seen '426' used in other threads too and was just a little confused

Nick '426' Smith.

A reference to his constant injury troubles, always out for four to six weeks.

Updated for Round 7.

117 votes for Scull! Impressive. Out of curiosity BC, what's the highest ever a player has polled in a week?
Sylvia received 244 for his game against Hawthorn last year, when he kicked 4 and had a lazy 37 touches from memory.

I reckon you should add Trengove's rushed behind as part of the little 'highlights' byline, it was a really nice bit of third-man up ruck work :thumbsu:
Done.

Updated for Round 10. Green re-takes top spot.

Updated for Round 11.

Two stalwarts are really starting to streak away. Also, if you care, this being the half-way point of the season, Greeny is almost exactly half of Flash's winning total of '09.

In the space of 2 games Gysberts has leapfrogged his way up the leader board ahead of proven vote getters in Moloney and Bate as well as young guns Scully and Trengove... I think this says a lot more about how we've played these past 2 weeks than it does about Gys
