Bigger Crowd in 2018: ANZAC Day or ANZAC Day Eve?

Lol really is this a serious question??? Melbourne have played two bottom 4 teams and lost to a mid table Geelong team they aren’t that great.

The pies-bombers will be a near sell out 95 minimum if it’s good weather.

Demons-tigers around 85000
We can't be 4-1 as the game is round 5.

But, we get it mate - you don't rate the Dees.

Can guarantee you though that the Dees, Tigers and Cats will all finish above the Dogs, who are a rabble. I sat and watched the Dees completely dismantle the Dogs last season, you're probably still a bit salty about that.

We'll win about 14 games this year. One of those will likely be Hawthorn this weekend, who after losing to us will be considered a rubbish side in your opinion...

Anzac Day eve might pull more this year because it should be a ripping game between two at least decent sides, while Anzac Day is between a mediocre-decent side and a mediocre-poor side.
But Anzac Day is a much greater event and, actual match quality aside, has a greater neutral appeal. Anzac Day eve will probably sit in the 65-90 range most years, while Anazac Day will sit in the 80-100 range most years.

So for this year, it’s probably 50/50, but in any given year, I’d say Anzac Day will get the most
Liking most Tigers' supporters approach to this season. Not overly arrogant and just enjoying the fact their side is playing entertaining footy.

HUGE game for both Collingwood and Essendon supporters this year. It's also a Pies home game which usually brings out a larger crowd than Essendon's homers. Both games should crack 90k

Pies home games V Essendon do not bring out bigger crowds than Essendon homers V Collingwood. Since 1997 ( last 20 years ) they are almost identical with Essendon homers actually marginally bigger by a tiny margin.

Which team is nominally at home makes no difference to ANZAC Day turnout.

Be interesting to see what TV ratings the ANZAC eve match can register an whether they can build a strong audience somewhere near what ANZAC day has.

Probably not, I understand for the second year in a row it will be on 7mate which will cost at a guess 100k or more viewers.

Looking forward to the annual 'Should Anzac day eve game be shared around?' thread
No one was trying to play anzac eve before we came along for it with the Tiges, y’all can bugger off. Queen’s Birthday I’m willing to lose

Comes down to the MCC at the end of the day and the MCC is still largely made up of Melbourne fans
Funnily enough I think its AFL Members rather than MCC Members thats the issue

Do you have the figures for the biggest home and away games which don’t include Dreamtime, Anzac Day or queens birthday. Those are all stand alone event days and different to normal home and away fixtures.

Isn't this funny? Dreamtime is literally just a Saturday night fixture made into an event. Hardly a stand alone fixture like the other two games. Hawthorn vs Geelong is actually the stand alone fixture
