"What If" The Sun was only in the sky and Giants were just tall people.

"What If" James Hird had not chosen the dark side or low road.

"What If" The goal square was actually square and not rectangular.

"What If" A non-midfielder won the Brownlow Medal.

Yeah nice try but that argument ignores the fact I have already acknowledged there are exceptions to the rule (as there always are). No doubt some indigenous people don't like Goodes (it's actually pretty disrespectful and condescending to assume that just because any 2 people are of indigenous descent that they must like each other and therefore if they don't then it's newsworthy).

Those counter arguments can be rebutted best by John Oliver when he asked satirically whether unless we could stop all drugs there was no point policing them at all.

Try and quote me on where I said everyone who booed him was a racist- I said the whole saga was racially motivated. You need to get to a base level of comprehension before typing a novel.
Was less a direct response to you and more a general statement. My bad. None of it was an argument in any way. It was a plea if anything.

Wasn't saying any two indigenous people must like each other, was asking if in that particular instance they count towards the racism. Genuine question, trying to understand other points of view, cheers for meeting me halfway.

I'm on your side believe it or not. I just don't think the way some people (you now included) help non-racists see the grey areas of what can contribute to racism, and as such may push perfectly reasonable, albeit stubborn people away from your point of view. I'm in the Goodes shouldn't have been booed side, but responses like that make me not want to be associated with some people on this side.

You mention my comprehension, yet you completely ignore the 90% that is hippie, let's all get along bullshit. You felt attacked so you completely missed my point (probably willful ignorance), which is basically why I wish people on our side could be a bit more measured in their responses because on the internet "attacking" someone will never result in them agreeing with you.

Also the fact that you refer to what I wrote as a novel is sad. I know that's just an internet thing to do for anything longer than a paragraph, but it's a sad reflection on the state of the internet and it's general users. Look at me go, lumping a bunch of individuals I know nothing about together.

What if that Oliver Florent shot on goal at the SCG travelled just a few meters further?

Port Adelaide would have been 1-3, confidence shattered, pressure on coach ramped up even more etc. Would that massive winning streak have still started just one week later?

If we do happen to go all the way this year then that moment in history becomes one of the all-time "what if?" moments?

What if the free was paid against Rioli, or if Sheed missed in the 2018 GF.
Would Bucks still be there and would we have never seen the evolution of Fly's gameplan.

I would have loved the flag then but I really love to watch us now.

Maybe I am just a glass half full guy.

Last decade mine was what if GAJ stayed at Geelong. Would a Super Dynasty team have occurred?

Then I realised no it wouldn’t they lost 2 b2b defences when he was there in his prime. He would then probably be seen as a lesser player as he wouldn’t have won as many individual awards.

Nothing much has happened this decade to constitute a significant what if question.

Collingwood win the 2018 grand final and Buckley is still coaching them today. Simpson gets sacked in 2021 and Fly is appointed as West Coast's new coach for 2022.

Now that is a sliding doors moment.
I wonder what he could have done with that list.
Maybe still bottom four but wooden spooners?

They would have won a decent amount of games under Fly especially with their home ground advantage.
Probably be a mid table side at best given the poor list management.

Buckley remaining at Collingwood though with the 2018 flag in his back pocket, would they still be contending today?

I doubt whether they would be.
Losing that 2018 flag, as painful it was at the time, may be a blessing in disguise.
Since then, the club has had the shake up it so desperately needed, in all aspects.
President, list management, coaching, even cap space, changes were needed and we are in a better place for it.

Nobody likes to miss out on a flag but I try and find positives in most things.

There's every chance West Coast would have gone through a proper shake up from top to bottom if it weren't for the 2018 flag.
Look at what happened at Adelaide after they lost the 2017 grand final, the club was exposed as being rotten to the core and they had a huge clean out.
