I didn't see the second half, so what did the big fella get done for?

Was it the spoil on Petrie that I saw for a split-second on the news?

If it was, am I the only one who thinks he should get off?
He made contact with his forearm, and the fist was very close to the ball. Can't see how that was anything other than an attempt at a spoil.

Your thoughts please...

That's the one.

I wouldn't be crying a river if he got suspended/found guilty, based on his performance on Sunday. But in my opinion, it seemed like a genuine attempt at spoiling.

My immediate thoughts were that there was not much in it but being early in the season he may get a week to prove some sort of point.

Still think this is the case. However, if you watch it really slowly, frame by frame, it appears really late. ;)

He's stiff if he gets rubbed out.

Going by precedence, Buckley has done the same thing twice and got away with it.

Then again, dud Cloke got rubbed out for it.

Toss a coin!

He will go because it was reckless, late and head high. I can accept that it was an attempt to spoil, but remember Cloke's suspension? The tribunal accepted that was accidental, but rubbed him out because it was reckless. Watch the Biglands incident in slow motion, it was very, very reckless.

Petrie,

as i said at the top, I have only seen a 2 second snippet on an interstate news story, so I can't really comment.

Oh bugger it, I will anyway!
Cloke got suspended because he punched Edwards in the head with his fist. Cloke's fist was nowhere near the ball. From what I saw Biglands was.

If you watch anything in slow motion it will look very very reckless.
If you want to judge if it was late or not surely you have to watch it real time to tell.

I think he is gone for a couple of weeks. Bassett got pinged for far less last year after he did a similar thing to Headland.

I don't think there was much of a difference in the Cloke and Biglands incidents, the Cloke one just looked worse because Edwards suffered a broken nose and concussion when he hit the ground, whereas Petrie was only groggy for a couple of minutes. Both were caused by a round armed, late, attempt to spoil, and both ended up as a punch in the face. Bottom line is it was late and reckless, and he should and will go for it.

On a different note, I'm glad to see Duck get off. A very soft report.

Watching the Biglands/Petrie contest the first time I didn't think there was anything in it. On slow mo though, and on precedents set (Cloke, Bassett) he'll probably go.

Carey got off? Damn.
