7. Judging Panel Act of 4/12/2019 - (The Speaker) - reached 5 votes

On Tuesday the 3rd of December we will be embarking on a new adventure and we need you on board.

This new nation needs to build a code by which all it's citizens are held to, a set of rules they all have agreed to or were agreed to by those who were there before them.

The rules of this game are simple:

To vote you need to be a citizen, to be a citizen you have to post in the game thread.
Every new citizen has to bring a new law with them, your first duty is the proposal for a new law.
--- Be careful of your wording because once it's law, it's law and you'll need someone else to propose a change and have it passed to change that.
Only those who were citizens when you joined the community can vote on your proposal.
You can propose anything you like.
Your laws cannot be omnibus collections of multiple issues, you propose a determination on a single issue at a time - unless that law is changed.
Voting will be in the form of likes or dislikes (or donkey votes of other), if you don't have access to those functions you can reply in writing.
Debate of the proposed laws are encouraged.

As the founding member of the community my proposal for a law is to code the above as the first law.
All citizens at the time of proposal: Taylor (Who votes for and it passes)

Where this goes is going to be entirely up to the community, there can be a winner in this if the law permits.

You’re against free speech for what purpose?

It inevitable leads to social conflict because Person A says something that is outright disturbing and immoral and then uses the shield of free speech to try and defend themselves. It allows the conflict to occur in the first place

I think there is a better way to establish people being allowed to voice their opinions but also being aware that there may be consequences if what they say is outright inhuman.

Then make a proposal that incitement to 'imminent lawless action' is itself illegal, as exists in the United States, which has excellent freedom of speech protections.

Proposal: That the judgement over and punishment for any illegal activity by a citizen of BigNation is to be presided over by a three-person panel of judges, to be chosen by the people. Should a member of the panel resign, their replacement would be chosen by the same process.
Would you consider amending this so that the three judges can not involve either the victim or the perpetrator of the illegality, if applicable?

Until that time, I would vote against it.

Amended propsal:

With the creation of laws by this emerging parliament, there also needs to be means of enforcing these laws, particularly as the nation grows and has an increasingly complex system of laws. Therefore, it is proposed that a three-person panel of judges is to be put in place, to judge whether the law has been broken and what the appropriate punishment is if they find that the law has been broken. This panel should be chosen by the people of BigNation. If a judge is either the alleged victim or perpetrator of the crime, they must be recused from the panel for that case. Two deputies will also be selected by vote, to take a judge's place if they are unable to be on the judging panel for a particular case. Should a member of the panel be removed from the panel as part of their sentence for committing a crime, resign, or no longer be a part of BigNation, they will be permanently replaced using the same voting process.

Taylor Addition: This being the 7th law from the 8th member of the community requires 5 votes to pass, currently liking this post (voting yes) is Taylor, The Speaker - three more votes to pass

The All Citizens Must be Self Supporting Act Mk2 has failed to pass with the addition of Andrew Birch matching the addition of iBeng against.

The motion fails in stalemate.

See my post for likes, I have the 3 votes you said were required (my proposal + 2 likes to get this act through)

I'm migrating here, all power must be cheap and consistent coal preferred climate goblins are banned from our nation.

This act is now up for debate and vote.

Along with the Banning of Religion to which iluvparis and Lebbo73 have the deciding votes, if either vote against it fails.

I need this in the Queen's English before I can even attempt to vote on it.
