BikeExchange years 2022 and beyond

Yates won Vuelta a Castilla y Lyon last night too after Smith finished second in the first stage. Yates is in good form, if he doesn't crash in La Vuelta he's a good chance at a podium there.

We've also passed Movistar for UCI points now. Tour of Poland will be massive, if Groves and Sobrero manage to win the flat stage and ITT then we'll have done well. Although Groves does have to beat Demare and Cav to do so.
 
Providing, Sobrero holds his form he is had to be a favorite to win GC at Poland - The rolling/uphill ITT in stage six suits his characteristics.

Dunbar to join Bike Exchange - This is an excellent signing - Can compete in one week stage races and provide support in GT's - Hope BEX gets him to focus on one day races.

He probably needs to get a couple of minutes on Carapaz to finish ahead in that last stage, and that ITT really suits Hayter as well.

It'll be interesting to see which Yates Dunbar supports in 2023 for the most part. Him, Schultz, Zana, Sobrero and Hamilton (if he stays) will all be key for next years GT season

You need to revisit the profiles for Poland - Three stages to go - One is pan flat which will have a bunch sprint, one will probably end up in a bunch sprint or at worst a reduced bunch sprint and the last stage is the ITT. Hayter is a chance, although the ITT profile favors Sobrero. There will be no A.Yates at BEX in 2023 - Hamilton is staying at the request of S.Yates.

Yep, 3 stages. First one is bumpy all the way through, second last stage is a rising ITT and the third has a lot of climbs early. No pan flat stages from here.

You fail to understand the profiles you have printed - As predicted stage 5 was a bunch sprint with around 100 riders and stage seven is even more likely to be a bunch sprint.
 
Mezgec and Hamilton are the 'heart and soul' of the team - It's been a tough year for Mezgec because he's had to change his riding style to fit in with Groenewgen's needs.
 
828 points out of the relegation zone, but are only racing 11 of the 33 remaining races for some reason, whilst Cofidis, Lotto and Isreal are riding 28, 27 and 25 of them respectively. Even the teams ahead of us are racing more with Movistar on 15, and Arkea/EF riding 18 apiece.

Need Bling to have a really strong WC, and Sobrero to do well in the ITT.

If it looks like we're in trouble I'd expect us to put teams together late in the calendar just to get over the line.
 
With the current situation, I have no idea why we aren't just racing every race Lotto does. We're 653 points ahead of Lotto, and they're racing all the ones we are plus Famenne Ardenne Classic, Binche-Chimay-Binche, Paris-Bourges, Paris-Toures Espoirs, Le Tour de Langkawi, Japan Cup and Chrono des Nations.

Just enter all of them because it limits the amount of points gains they can possibly make per race at worst, outright move more points ahead at best. Although we have the advantage in the World Champs with Schultz, Bling, Durbridge, Sobrero and Maas all here for the road race, and they have none competing, Sobrero getting a few points for the ITT. Top 60 get points, and winner gets 600 points so hopefully Nick or Bling get up to win it.

Schultz and Groves are both top 10. Groenewegan, Yates, Bling, Sobrero, Smith, Hamilton, Mezgec and Colleoni are also there.

If you outside the top ten then you get partial points - For example of you win a race worth 200 points - You are the 11th rider on the list with 150 points and the tenth rider has 200 points - Then 150 points is added to the teams total.
 
Bling getting 3rd (again) in the World Championships puts us ahead of EF and Arkea and if Yates gets a good result in Il Lombardia we will be fine for relegation, puts us over 1000 points ahead of Lotto.
 
As it stand now, BEX is 1200 points clear of Lotto - A slow recovery from COVID makes S.Yates doubtful for the rest of the season - This is the reason BEX withdrew from the CRO race.

That is an indicative start list that you must send to the organisers - Foe example, De La PENA has raced five days this year.
 
So looks like the 2023 squad is close to being finalised. Bauer, Howson, Schultz, Edmondson and Konychev all remain OOC, and I'd really only expect a couple to get another one. Schultz looks like he'll be going to B&B Hotels, a strange one if you ask me, would have thought a contract at a WT team would have been easily possible.

How we attack the three Grand Tours will be interesting to see. I'd go with the same formula, use Yates for the Giro and Vuelta and base the Tour around stage wins for Groenewegen and Bling, with maybe Craddock also going to the Tour.
 
BEX knew the points battle was over after the World's, so they stopped Matthews returning to Europe for racing and allowed him to holiday in Australia. My understanding is that Bling may target the Aussie Nationals in January - Yates is riding the TDF come rain, hail or shine - He wants to be able to do a different calendar in 2023 - I am not in favour of taking Groenewegen to the TDF if it is a similar parcours to 2022 - The Giro could be a better option.
