Probably isn't anyone here that remembers or has heard of him but he used to play in 1959. Just wondering, if anybody watched or heard of him, if they could let me know.

MCGRATH, BILL (SOUTH) 1959, 15 games, 18 goals.

Bill McGrath came from near Horsham and had a reputation as a centre half back. He was a tough country footballer who decided to go home. South lost many promising players in this way during the 50's and 60's. He was a farmer but later became the State MP and served in that position for many years.

He still lives down Horsham way. Chatted with him a couple of years ago on a train from Melbourne to Ballarat after a game. Was a State Liberal Party member during the 80's. Was the Minister for Police & Emergency Services for a time.

Well there's only one reason why I'm bumping this and it isn't for a great cause...

Vale Bill McGrath. Passed away last night (Wednesday 22nd August).

I might be wrong but i thought he died recently
Just ten years early - he had a good knock at 81 years of age.
