BILLINGS, Mont., Oct. 5 (AP) -- Chauncey Billups scored 22 points and Kevin Garnett had 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Toronto Raptors 125-92 on Friday night in the first exhibition game of the season.

The Timberwolves controlled the game, leading by 35 points late in the fourth quarter. Six players scored 10 or more points for Minnesota, including Joe Smith. Back with the Timberwolves after playing with Detroit, Smith scored 11 points and had seven rebounds.

Billups made two three-pointers, including one to end the third quarter with Minnesota up 99-71.

Vince Carter led the Raptors with 17 points. Hakeem Olajuwon, in his first season with the Raptors after 17 years with Houston, had four rebounds.
