nah vic timeQLD time?
Much better from Billy. He worked hard and hit the scoreboard a fair bit. He kicked two goals this week and is working hard on his three quick steps. Billy’s contest stuff is pretty good. He cramped about the second term and didn’t play much game time after that.
Wasn’t really sighted throughout the day as an inside mid. Probably needs a bit more urgency from him around the ground and a bit more aggression, but is continuing to develop as a rookie.
Probably struggled this week, went backwards on his last week against Redlands. Probably handballed the ball a bit too much and didn’t work as hard as what he had done the previous week. Still a big learning curve for Billy as a first year player.
Had a new role this week, played him as a forward, just teaching him that role. With Aishy coming back it probably pushed him out of the midfield. But good development for him, playing a different role, working on his intensity with his spread, structured up very well and played his role for the team.
Played as an inside mid, not a good game for Billy. Didn’t have an impact on the game offensively at all with ball in hands. His ball security was very good though around the contest. So if we can turn them into possessions it will be a good day for him. Still working to play at the level, played on good players with the 18 year olds at GWS as midfielders. Hopefully took something away from the game.
Gave Billy a bit of a different job last week, his first half was probably more run with Payne who is one of the best midfielders in the competition if not the best. Did a very good job, had him four possessions til quarter time, held Paine to 12 to half time. A good education for Billy playing on good midfielders, taking him to the ball, teaching him running patterns and what not. Billy showed a couple of really good things throughout the game, so hopefully he will learn a lot from that and take that forward.
Found a bit more of the ball. Thought he was OK early, Billy, a bit more around the contest. Coughed up a few early and got hit around the head a couple of times. Asked him to go to Bird in the stoppage and do a role for us in that area. Still working on his defensive side of his game, it’s still his RFI.
Billy was again solid around stoppage. His contest work is going really well at the moment, he’s very compliant in a lot of areas. He improved his tackling this week, he’s still working on his defensive actions in his deny hit areas on opponents and his three quick step from stoppage. I want to see Billy working a little bit harder between the archs in transition to win a bit more uncontested ball.
A little bit quieter this week, still solid in and around the contest through clearance and first possession with opposition mids. Again, still working hard in transition with his RFI whether that’s offensively or defensively. We had Billy playing on Cam IIett who is probably one of the best NEAFL players in the competition, a really good learning curve playing on a really good state level player and hopefully learn a bit from it.
Inside mid for the day. Strong around the contest again, applying his art very well in that area of his game – not coughing it up, being clean around stoppage. He’s probably now turning the ball that he gets into possessions, and continuing to work in transition for Billy.
Inside mid, a really good contested game from Bill. The highest contested possessions for the day, seven clearances –
a really good effort which we’re asking a lot from him to do and had 25 disposals. He’s really starting to now work on his offensive game which is pretty good for him as a midfielder. Still a couple of things around take on tackle, which he’s looking to work on but good to see ball in hands for Billy again on the weekend.
Great work on getting these ressies wraps in here, Zo. It's great to be able to see a progression over weeks.
Another consistent game. Hovering around a 25 possession game as an inside mid. His contest game is still pretty good. He was clean with ball in hands. Now still as a first year player his ability to work hard in transition both offensively and defensively is still his area of improvement but it’s good to see him now start to string a few games together consistently as a midfielder.
Inside mid early, had no impact playing in the contest playing there. He probably fumbled a little bit Billy. He only had five possessions to half time as a midfielder so we moved him to half forward and he played as a fifth at stoppage where he had a lot more impact. He kicked two goals for the day and probably could have kicked three or four if teammates had of given him the ball at certain times. He had more impact particularly around the ground in terms of his transitioning to get forward and at the contest that way. It’s still a learning curve for Bill, as a mid, but now he’s starting to understand what the running and transitioning is all about.
