They were booing when he lined up for goal, but not because he was an ex Crow, they always do that after a free they don't like.

They do it all the time for any opposition player because they are Adelaide supporters.

I travelled over there for their first two games against the Pies and felt like I left the ground with a 5 point lower IQ just by breathing the same air.

Frampton has been a revelation but where to now. I assume with Cox back, Frampton goes to defense but still fills a 2nd ruck role. What about when Cameron returns? Is it possible we will be better off with 1 of Cox/Cameron rucking, Frampton 2nd & McStay in the side? I don't think I have seen the 2nd position played out of defense.

I think it can be done though

If a forward can do it I don't see why a defender can't, as long they have an adequate person to cover for him in defence.

No, you don't swap key defenders into the ruck rotation. You don't generally carry a spare key defender in the team for when they would go into the ruck, and rucks can't rest in the backline as they would sometimes as key forwards. Also, if you have match ups that are working in defence, you keep them. You definitely don't disrupt your key defenders a few times a game just to cover the ruck.

Run it against actual teams. Let's say Carlton. Frampton would be needed to play on either McKay or Curnow (with Moore the other). Assuming he is doing okay with one of those match ups against say McKay, there is no way you'd swap him 20% of the time off that player to play ruck when Cox needs a breather. Who would then pick up McKay?

You don't mess with backline match ups for ruck rotations.

Horses for courses. Against Brissy for example, he could follow Daniher into the ruck. But yes, against Carlton you might have him on McKay and you'd use a forward as second ruck.

He was very good on Lynch, better than he's been as a ruck, but we haven't seen enough of him in either role to make a definitive call.

I also think he is a somewhat better Ruck then defender but that doesn't mean I think he will play ruck.

He'll go back to def with Cox and/or Cameron returning. As overall the team set up is better that way.

I'd play Cox forward as second ruck - particularly first game back. Coxy was only playing 55% game time split ruck and forward before his injury. Has he got the tank to play big minutes as first ruck?

Not since the days of Gary Dempsey when rucks rested in the back pocket.

Of course he’s the recruit of the year. The recruit of the year isn’t necessarily the best player…. He’s the player that the recruiters did the best job of identifying. Let’s be honest…. Tom mitchell , a Brownlow medallist, was a no brainer. Frampton became with baggage having been sacked by two clubs. He’s our best recruit by a mile.

Been great since we put him into the ruck. But...

He won't be playing there during finals or against the big clubs (Geel, Brisbane, Melb, Carl) as he will be needed as a key back, so let's get him back there asap now that cox is back and get he, Moore, Murphy working on how to work together to arially control a backline.

Have loved Framps this year, he's held up as we've had a heap of injuries. Don't think he has a best position. He's a fill in forward, back or ruck. Probs doesn't make the cut if everyone is available. But that's not often the case.

At the moment there would be no rush getting Cameron back. Get his body right and conditioning. Cox is a massive in as he can slowly take more of the ruck duties from Billy. Billy can keep doing his thing swinging in and chopping out. Whether that is in back or forward. He has taken his opportunity by the horns and is riding it side saddle at the moment. Another great game. In the ruck and around the ground.
