I was at a Collingwood panel show a few months ago and Steele was asked who he thought an underrated player was that could contribute more than expected..

His answer was Frampton because he has that mongrel in him.

Let’s hope he is right!!
Ive seen hints of it.
Hopefully he turns full Leigh Brown on Saturday

I originally thought we should go with a small forward line, but in dry conditions, and with our structure disrupted, I think now it is absolutely right to have selected Frampers.
But I see his role not as forward. He is the second (second) ruck...takes centre contests and others, offers a target down the line (in other words, he plays the role of Cox or Cameron for whoever is not at that point is in the main ruck). This gives Cox and Cameron their normal rests on the bench, and both of them then can rotate forward to supply the replacement for McStay. Frampton can keep doing what he does best: ruck and just moving around the ground.
I think Ginni has to remain sub, but he can come on tactically during the 3rd for one of our triple ruck/forward group, (once McIerney has been subbed off due to dehydration).

It’s crazy how the coaching team didn’t predict mcstay doing his knee in the game.

This can’t be serious post? If frampton played in place of Cameron last week we probably wouldn’t be playing this week.
Has nothing to do with McStay we needed another key back whether we were playing Carlton or Brisbane. Cox will play forward.

We should have weakened the team last weak potentially costing us the game in case a tall got injured?

Come on mate this is ridiculous.
Weakened in which way? Cameron has been average we would have been better served with Cox rucking and Frampton giving a chop out. Added benefit is that we knew if we made it through that we needed an additional backman.

Clear as day they made the wrong decision at selection.

Cameron was vital to our win last week.

This is such a ridiculous line of argument

Because our backline has been so poor the last few weeks
With three key backs already for Daniher and Gumby and a heap of dangerous smalls, perhaps he wants to play Frampton on Charlie Cameron?

It is certainly innovative. Frampton to pick up Cameron and throw him into the stands, WWE style

Cool story. Won’t be the first time I’ve argued one out with the board and been correct. You can’t double team every player in their forward line. We need somebody that has longer limbs to go with Hipwood, Murphy is not that player. We can’t afford to have Howe or Moore, or even Murphy coming in over the top every time. Brisbanes small forwards are even more damaging. They won’t let us have a free man in defence all game. This will also allow Moore to intercept more freely, and allow him to dart forward knowing there is somebody in the backline to anchor the pack.

It’s not revolutionary, many clubs play with two key backs if you haven’t noticed.

It’s a low risk proposal, Cameron hasn’t been in the best form post injury if you haven’t noticed.

Take a nap

This is true…helped us dig in the last 6 minutes. Still think Frampton brings good rucking and versatility

Yes he does. But his good rucking should not really be required although in warmer weather an extra ruck rotation might be handy. Versatility too…. If we play to the best of our abilities and avoid injuries then his versatility should not be required. He is an insurance selection. Possibly if all is going well he’s the one likely to be subbed off for Ginni when it’s time to add a ball player to the 22.

Honest question - can anyone remember a big final where a team went in too tall?
Essendon 1990 PF and GF. Were run off their legs on a warm clear day.

Salmon kicked 2 in each IIRC, such a champion but the others (Somerville, Simon Madden, Van Der Haar and T & A Daniher) were caught out a lot and their team mates were caught HTB a few times (even the brilliant Derek Kickett got cornered and robbed because Madden couldn't make space).
