I’ll answer that after seeing him play 10 consecutive games in defence.
He won't play 10 consecutive games in defence. He will only ever get a game against a gorilla or as a negating blanket. If Murphy can't play on next year, our defence will be severely weakened. Frampton is no substitute.

Fagan wouldn’t have needed to move Andrews if he dominated like in the PF.
Let that sink in!!!!

Now - why didn’t Andrews dominate the GF:
  • headache
  • sore toe
  • opponent

It’s a tough one I know.

all hail Frampton

that game , the prelim, well the first qtr and a half was one out of the box for Harris. The likelihood of him playing that good again was small. They were conservative with their match up, thats their fault. They waited too long to start taking risks, paying way too much respect to an opponent who was hardly that on the day

look, we were the better side 75% of the game, but it had zero to do with Frampton, it was our midfield
im just not going to sit here and think Frampton done anything special

he is lucky to have a premiership medallion, and all power to him for achieving it. But he was shit on the day
it happens

Theres a thing called role players champ, you can't have 22 scott pendleburys out there dominating. Played his role, won flag, job done. Andrews did nothing until the last quarter which contributed to us winning the match.

Full post-match, GF: Magpies
7 minute mark.

you know what would have changed my mind on his role, if he had of taking that uncontested mark 20m out from goal and kicked it
or competed in the last qtr when the ball was kicked to him when he was open
that actually makes an impact on the game, and makes Harris have to defend him even more
allowing our good players more room to work

be honest, I guarantee you were cursing him at the time

anyway, we won, it doesn’t matter. Be interesting where he fits next year, if at all

You must be fun at parties

Who would have done better? Enlighten us.
Exactly. No one. When McStay was injured, we had no forward options to replace him. The only option we had was to play someone on Andrews to nullify his impact. Enter Big Bill. If he kicked a goal or 2 it would have been a bonus. But he allowed other forwards the freedom to do their thing.

I think I'll listen to our coach over someone that watches highlights on the news.

Did you miss when Frampton played throughout the year (15 matches) when we had no ruck? ..and filling in for whoever else was out at the time?

Frampton filled in wherever he was asked to & simply played his role. No fuss. No fanfare. Just did exactly what was asked of him.

MaCrae is always positive, always talking his players up, even when he moves them on
there is video of him telling how important Grundy and Ginnivan are, where are they now
and there is nothing wrong with that, moving them on is best for the club
what you say compared to what you do are usually different

winners are grinners, be interesting to see his press conference if we lost by a goal

If Murphy plays on?
Back up ruck & back up tall back if/when injuries hit..

would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when he dropped that uncontested mark 20m dead in front of the goal in the 3rd qtr, or how about the last qtr when he didn’t even go for the mark when 5m in front and instead waited for Andrews, then watched him intercept It

I bet you were praising his game then
winning covers over all cracks
dodged a bullet
end of
But it's OK if we disagree with you isn't it? I mean, you are certainly in the minority if media analysis is anything to go by.

on the day I said, grand final day, if you think you played well or done his role well on grand final day, all power to you
i thought it could have cost us

I knew we had no forward option to replace McStay. The only tall we had left to keep our structure was to play Frampton. I expected Frampton to play a defensive role on Andrews, because Bill's not a forward. I expected that our goals would have to come from our smalls. So actually, it went pretty much how I thought.

Sure, it was disappointing he dropped a couple of marks & it would have been a bonus if he hadn't. But forwards drop marks & miss goals too and that is their sole role. He was in a defensive mindset playing a defender's type game. And thankfully the way Fly coaches, the players don't spend the rest of the match beating themselves up because they made a mistake.

The blokes called up to play a defensive role on an AA calibre FB. Whilst not playing for a couple of months prior.

Covered him for three quarters. Andrew’s wasn’t going to go missing for all four.

Interested to see your other option if Frampton doesn’t play. As Andrew’s would’ve been more off the leash.

Just keep in mind also what we paid for Frampton and what he’s done through the season in plugging holes.

Would’ve been far worse off without him. If Murphy isn’t ok to carry on you’ll be seeing more of Frampton potentially.

Who would have done better? Enlighten us.

I would have played Krueger, risky yes with injury, but at least he is a forward .

as it was they went with Frampton
starting with Frampton on Harris was ok, they were snookered in what they could do re selection. But Moore was going so bad down back on Daniher, Frampton was giving zero as a forward threat, I was wanting them to switch during the 3rd qtr when things were going pear shaped

moore never plays well on Daniher. Was trailing him in at every contest
the ball was mainly in our forward 50, we were getting first touch, Moore would have been an aerial threat

it worked out for the best, so it doesn’t matter

heaven forbid I have an opinion that differs
No your opinion is just that it’s your opinion and no one agrees with you that’s all Frampton played the role the coaches asked of him and helped his team to win a Premiership and all your doing is complaining about Billy’s performance I bet the Lions are more upset that Andrews couldn’t take advantage of the match up he underperformed for 3 quarters and that’s thanks to Billy and the rest of the team it’s about a TEAM performance and Billy played his role Andrews was useless for 3 quarters Billy did amazing to keep him out of the game for so long
