Tall defenders we pick up from other clubs often turn out pretty handy:
Wakelin

those guys had all played at senior level consistently over several seasons. not sure Frampton fits into that group.

Ask yourself this, if he can’t defend, why would fly and co target him? The work experience kid hasn’t traded for him.
Because he was cheap and they reckon they can turn him around, or they are hoping Kelly and Dean become great defenders so we can play Moore forward…I hope the latter is not the case as I don’t trust his body.Ask yourself this, if he can’t defend, why would fly and co target him? Wright mentioned he suits our defensive styleI'm guessing here...
but he is apparently a great athlete which would let him zone off and roll from one forward to another which is what our defenders do.

That’s exactly what Wright mentioned. We play team defence. We’ve done it well despite being small. Astonishing really. Nobody is expected to be 1 v 1 often. It’s all about support. From what I’ve seen of frampton, he’s got an excellent kick for a bloke over 200cm and a level head. That’s a start. Complete opposite of KellyI'm guessing here...

My favourite band. After Foals, and Band of Horses.
Obviously the coaching staff see something in him for him to secure a 3yr deal, though he only played 6 games for the Crows last season his form in the SANFL was very good certainly good enough to be in the firsts somewhere. I think he must have a prior relationship with MaCrae because he seemed quite familiar with Craig,I think you are right he may be better than expected and now he has joined us we support him unconditionally. This could be a shrewd pickup. Can play forward, back or ruck, and at 201cm, is going to give us a big body, wherever he plays.
His 6 AFL games this year, looks like he was more than contributing, with a standout game against the Dogs. Interesting how he couldn't get more games with the Crows this year, but happy to have him in Black and white..
Welcome aboard Billy.......
I think Wright is very much into win-win trades, rather than trying to screw other clubs. It gives us a reputation of being a fair and reasonable club to deal with.I actually think we paid more then what Adelaide paid for him. Weird.
On his form from last season I wondered why they would delist him because according to all reports his form was very good in the SANFL, that there make me wonder what has transpired to delist him.Way to misrepresent it, but that’s cool. The point is 3 years on a player with very little to show over an 8 year career, who would have been delisted, is completely needless.
What was the competitive offer we had to beat by going so overboard? It’s this kind of management that has gotten us into troublesome corners time and again
He's a solid bit older than their other tall backs. I think it's more Adelaide being intent on going as young as possible. On his form from last season I wondered why they would delist him because according to all reports his form was very good in the SANFL, that there make me wonder what has transpired to delist him.

As you say and I agree their other prospects are younger but the Pies are not exactly stacked with KPD,s so it does make sense to me for us to recruit him. He's a solid bit older than their other tall backs. I think it's more Adelaide being intent on going as young as possible.

We did very well to get top 4 and deserved to also but you can see why Adelaide have gone the way they have, and they usually go very well with their young keys. They bottom 6 Side this year and we where Top 4
Yet another casualty of the manufactured trade drought until 3pmMedia department has too much time on its hands. LOL.
Liam jones was the definition of a crab for years as a forward. He's spent most of his time on an AFL list being viewed as a forward/ruck option has he not and it's only in the last 18 months or so that he's been switched to defence and seemingly begun to blossom as a player.
For a 3rd round selection Frampton the soon to be 26yo 201cm 99kg key defender appears worth taking a chance on.
Hopefully the experience of McRae, Leppitsch, Howe and Moore can see him improve his areas of weakness so he can find a better balance between being an intercept and negating defender. Will need to improve that tackle count also.
While none of us are expecting him to ever be anywhere near as good as Moore in his six senior games this season he still stacked up well in some areas when compared to Darcy.
