He's been a very good defender for some time. Some fools from interstate branded him a dud and it's hard to shake perceptions. He is quick for a big man, a lovely long kick and not bad at the neat 20 metre chip. He is quite good below his knees and his marking has become a strength. Unlike some more renowned defenders, he punches from behind more often than not rather that attempting to mark. He is predictable. That's a good thing from a defender.

His teammates love him. He has never dropped his head through the seasons when he was not getting a game or used in multiple positions. What a tribute to his persistence that he is now clearly best 23.
He’s not a dud but he has done some dud things, love where he’s at now and his journey has been a pleasing one.

Just one of Fly's (and Graham Wright's) success stories. As Fly pointed out to the group during the week, all it takes sometimes is for one person that you respect to believe in you. Choco Williams did it for Fly....now Fly's doing it for so many of our young (and not so young) men.

Onya Billy, glad you're a Pie mate!

Yes, great to see Big Bad Billy get the external recognition he's deserved for some time.....I think Nick was in shock last night when Tomahawk pumped up Billy's tires on national tv. Awesome!

Agree, he has done some dud things - this is generally when under pressure or when he tries to do something special - he's very good when he stays in his lane, works within his capabilities and has a simple role to fulfill - he's been a great aqisition.

Billy suddenly is our top 5 players we cannot afford to lose.

So if we are ever up in the 4th quarter where the result is pretty much guaranteed, he has to be the first one that needs to be taken off the ground.

Loving BBFs aggression, he certainly didn't take a backward step while taking yet another key forward scalp in Hogan.
Echoing Nafe Buckley, or was it Yabby Jeans? "If you are a big man, play as a big man".
I seem to recall Bucks may have borrowed that one to explain why he publicly dressed down Jarrod Witts on the boundary during another loss against the Hawks in 2014.

Agree with the above comments, for the last 20 years or more we have been able to recruit some fringe players and turn them into kpd, from Keefe to Roughie to Murph and now Billy.

Credit to Frampton most of all, he's the one doing the work, and to the coaches and recruiters who got him in and gave him a go. Keystone of the best defence in footy.

I think he been 1 of biggest Positives so far in 2026

He was about out BOG Tonight and has Defended really well from the Start of the Season

Big Thumbs Up for Billy
