It will be interesting to see if a fairly new coaching team, including a bloke that was a very good AFL ruckman, might be able to get a bit more out of Billy. Hopefully he can have a good 2019.

Surprise, surprise - it seems from the video footage introducing Ratten and Lade, that Longer and Pierce have already begun a running block down at Moorabbin through their break.

One year contracts can be a really clear signal that it’s time to shape up or ship out.

I Can see us making a move for a guy like Stef Martin, Zac Smith or Jon Ceglar at the end of next year. Pinch hit a ruckman for a couple of years like Essendon did with Salmon, Barnes and Allen while David Hille was developing.

Stef Martin will be 33 years old by the time the 2020 season starts. Smith will be 30, and ultra injury prone. Ceglar is a career 2nd stringer. Not really a great lot to choose from.
