Thought I would start up a thread for all the bird fans out there on BF do get a daily fix of the wonderful Birds of Oz.

See a bird and don't know what it is, ask it here. Taken a brilliant, good, pretty crap photo of a bird, share it here.

Give this thread a visit too https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/birds.1391025/ as it's the inspiration for this thread.

So here's a bird photo I took of a Willie Wagtail to get things going...

The Aussie bird count is on this week until 26/10. Takes five minutes to register and download the app, and then 20 minutes at a time to count birds in your backyard or wherever else you happen to be. It's sort of a census for birds.

Did my first count yesterday. 3 Australian ravens, 1 magpie, 3 rainbow lorikeets, 2 rock doves (pigeons).

The ravens have been visiting for about 6 months now and I'd assumed they were crows. The app told me otherwise.

Thanks for posting that. Had slipped my mind.

Reckon I'll get out and add to the count on the weekend if the weather behaves itself.

Good point on the Ravens/Crows.

Think the only Crows in Victoria are up Mildura way. Everything else is a Raven.

With AI taking over I think going forward pictures like yours are much better to look at as there's no doubt it's a genuine photo.

Some people spend hours on a photo doctoring it with software and it ends up looking like AI.

All I do is point and shoot and crop the images down a bit smaller in size so they load quicker.

I also get one good photo in five hundred 😂

Yeah, what most people call crows are actually ravens. I guess the size is also a bit of a give-away.
