Kirkby is a risky selection but he is fast keeps his feet and kicks goals.
He is not fit. Will he put in the work?
Reminds me of Robbie gray at the same age.
Kerr moves too unathletically for me.
Korewha wouldn't be listed if he wasn't gifted ais. He is a fair way off it.

Kirby is a Byron Pickett clone....has to be picked as does Atley from Bendigo. Korewha is an interesting one..needs to start having an influence

No doubt that Kirby is lively & exciting- But is that going to get you drafted? Averaging 2.3 goals a game at TAC Cup level isn't the be all and end all. He doesn't tackle hard enough, awesome when he goes near it but can't find it. He plays as a leading forward at TAC Cup/Vic Country games, just how can he do that at 181cm at AFL level.

That's my issue, fitness needs a lot of work too & he just tries to do "too much" at stages.

Bishop thoughts on Dylan Clarke as a Tigers target. Wanted his brother last year and was unhappy we missed out. Looking at Dylans early season form it looks like he finds plenty of the ball, uses it well enough for an inside mid and lays plenty of tackles. Certainly something we could use.

Yeah I really like Dylan- More than I liked Ryan last year to be honest. As you say he's one of the leading disposal winners in the TAC Cup, averaging 28.8 disposals. (Only behind Bendigo's Kobe Mutch).

Plays as an inside midfielder, tackles hard. A good runner with nice endurance so can play on the outside at stages (he did in the Vic Metro trial) rather than spending most of the game on the inside which he does at TAC Cup level. Left foot isn't elite- But it's pretty good and has the ability to push forward and kick goals which he has done this year.

A player who could compliment the Richmond midfield well at his size of 187cm.

Thoughts on dragons Corey lyons

Really liked Corey last year, but 2016 has been underwhelming. With a strong midfield this year of Taranto, Setterfield & other flankers such as Floren/Polson/McGrath going past him, he's sort of been out of place. Kicking isn't superb, but he can win a lot of his own footy. He's a prospect & was solid in the VIC METRO trial but will need to perform much better after a slow month.

Hi Bishop
Would you put SPS as a once-in-a-decade prospect?
Thanks mate

Once in a decade is a big statement- For me he's the No.1 at this stage, but no I don't think he's a once in a decade player. JW was mentioned around the Pick 1 for a while and I think SPS will be too.

I'd have JW ahead of SPS if they were in the same draft (if that adds anything to the above).

Thanks mate, appreciate the insight! Are there any gun ruckman (potential top 5/10) in this draft pool? Beginning to think our beloved tigers are desperate for a young ruck!

I woudn't say with Richmond's first round they'd be looking at a ruckman (not at 5-10) they're likely to be a lot more available in the 2nd-3rd round than there has been in the past so I'd suggest they may look to draft one then.

These are some (TAC Cup) names who I think are a chance: In saying that, I can really only see maybe three picked up at best at this point in time. When blokes come back they are really expected to lift their game and standout- They do get scrutinised a lot more too as 19 yr olds.

Brett Blair (GF)
Jake Bradley (NK) Blues Father/Son
Karl Brown (CC)
Daniel Foley (WJ)
James Gow (NBR)
Tom Jok (DS)
Goy Lok (SD)
Lockey McCartney (GF)
Matt Perry (NK)
Lachie Tiziani (MB)
Lachie Walker (OC)

I personally think Bradley is the best chance due to the F/S nature. I think Brown/Blair are very similar and for me they play as No.1 targets at TAC Cup & won't really be able to do that at AFL level due to their height. Then there is two sudanese prospects who were close last yr but still learning the game, Matt Perry is someone I really like but think he'll be left alone again. Lockey McCartney was superb in the Vic trials- Kicking does need to be cleaned up but played fantastic that afternoon. Lachie Walker got cut from Vic Metro, someone who finds a lot of footy at TAC Cup but will he get a chance this year after being 'stiff' IMO last year?

The Vic Metro trial was the first time I'd seen Ronke play, He had 27 disposals and was consistent throughout the day. I noted in my note book that he was in the centre (bounce) for a large chunk of the day but did move to HFF a bit too. Kicked at 40% throughout that day which was horrible- One of the few that recorded more ineffective kicks than effective.
Blair, Foley or Perry who is more likely to go. out of the 10 list who do think could be rookied?

I think Foley is most likely to go. His numbers haven't set the world on fire but is an impact player. I think Blair is going to kick a large amount of goals- I'm still not sure where he will fit in at AFL level, I think he's a rookie.

I really like Perry- Haven't seen him play live this year, but I liked him last year.

I think all of them are a chance to be rookied, the most likely for me would be (Bradley, Gow, McCartney)

Lachie Walker won't go away if he keeps finding the ball...

Thoughts on kye beveridge from sandy ? Son of Luke

Not draftable in my opinion. A tad small and doesn't win enough of the footy to warrant being drafted and when you I've watched him- he's never stood out.

At his height it would be good if he could go forward and hit the scoreboard but he hasn't done that.

Hi Bishop,
Where do you think Jonty Scharenberg will get picked in this years draft? and what do you think potentially he will achieve?
Thanks

Hey mate, sorry for the late reply.

I think Scharenberg will be there abouts in the Top 20. He's an inside midfielder who I liked last year when I saw him.

Unfortunately due to the lack of access to vision I haven't seen him play this year so can't comment on his improvement etc.

I think he'll be a solid player in the future, but I'm not one to make wide statements. You can never be so sure how a player will develop in the future...

Have updated Post #2 with my latest power rankings- For comparison

A few injuries with Berry missing a month with a AC joint injury, Jack Scrimshaw has been back playing school football for the past month, whilst Ben Ainsworth is suspended for two more weeks.

Any questions fire away, the next update will have a full list of 75 prospects & a Phantom Draft.

ALSO: NOTE that I haven't included players such as Shai Bolton & Tim English as I am yet to see them, I won't be including them until I've seen them to make my own judgment.

Interested in where you would have Rolls and Venables? Would they be in the 28-30ish range? I am also interested in where you would now rate Korewha with him dropping out of your original top 25? And I am interested in your thoughts on McCluagge going from outside your 25 into your top 5? You also have Andrew McGrath going from outside your 25 into the 10th spot. Could you see McGrath rising up towards a potential top 5 draft pick status after the Champs?

Also on an unrelated note, I deem it an almost certainty that the Lions will have a top 3 draft pick come this off season. We are desperate for both quality inside and outside midfielders and SPS, Brodie and McCluggage seem like the stand out 3 mids at this stage. Can you shed a little light on your opinions of the 3 both individually and how they compare against each other? At this stage for the Lions in order of preference I think I'd go SPS>McCluggage>Brodie but any of the 3 would be handy. I am a massive fan of SPS and think he has superstar potential and really, really want him on the Lions list but McCluggage continues to rise up and up and looks likely such a handy player so McCluggage could be my preference come the end of the Champs!

McCluggage got enough going on, that he could go at 1? Let's be honest, Essendon has the number 1 draft pick this year, trying to get early vision of who we will get :p

Rolls is at #28, Venables #31. I liked Rolls game vs Tasmania, he's probably going to be one of top three at this stage picked for the Lions (Would have Allison, Rolls, D.Watson). Nice outside midfielder, just hoping to see if he can push forward throughout the rest of the year and hit the scoreboard. Venables I'm on the fence with, have seen him a few times but not as satisfied as 'Brett Anderson' is with him at #7. Hoping to catch one of his school footy games in the coming weeks, but was superb vs Oakleigh in Round 1. Kicking needs a bit of work, but does push forward and hit the scoreboard.

Always had ?? marks on Korewha and his start to the year hasn't been flash. Played more of a forward last year, now trying to be a CHB/FB. In my eyes he doesn't read the play well enough to drop off his man, has really good running ability but I have a lot of doubts on him. Will be interested to see where he plays for VC in the champs.

My last update was post game 1 of the AFL Academy matches, McCluggage was close enough to the 25 but not in it- That was the first time I'd seen him that night at the MCG and was impressed but needed a bigger sample. Since then he's been superb have seen him play a fair bit more and was really really good. One who could challenge for #1.

McGrath was #21 in Rankings One, i had a few ?? on his kicking. Efficiency wise he is one of the best, but the depth of kicking is probably the issue. Can he kick 50+ probably not, but is a guy who would run 10m and kick 40m. McGrath has a big athletic background, likely to play off HBF in the champs, could he rise yes. But I think he's probably going to be in the 2nd half of the first round at this stage.

With the 3rd question, it probably depends on what you'd deem most important. SPS can probably slot in and play inside/outside - McCluggage more of an outside midfield/HFF for the moment - whilst Brodie is an inside midfielder.

I think SPS is the one I'd want, kicks well on both feet hitting targets easily and is classy with the ball in hand. Speed is very good, one knock on him is probably that he isn't a big say 25-30+ disposal winner. More suited to playing as a HFF/Outside mid I'd say at AFL level early as doesn't have the body to be a big contested ball winner.

McCluggage is really good in traffic, looks like time stands still when he has the ball. One of his games i watched, he found a target with almost all of his possessions in close. Wins a lot of the ball using his good hands to clear the ball from a stoppage and has the capacity to hit the scoreboard.

Brodie is a true inside midfielder. Hasn't played much TAC Cup with school footy commitments at Scotch but has been solid from all reports. Is a strong midfielder in the contested situations lays a lot of tackles in most games. Doesn't really go forward, just suited to play inside midfielder a bit similar to how Clayton Oliver was at stages last year. Brodie's kicking isn't flash, but a lot of inside midfielders don't have a superb kicking ability.

I'd take SPS, but it wouldn't surprise me to see either of the other two VC players jump above him post Champs
