I would not mind getting three or four people together to place the academy kids, take the average of all the results and that will allow everyone to use this as an indicative guide for all future mock drafts.
Chris, Knightmare, Foj1, yourself...
Then we could work out the points system and create a new draft order.
To me that sounds like the best method and allows someone to have a rough guide and if they really want, they can create their own academy order.
The idea has some merit, problem is everyone rates them differently. I might have Harry Perryman higher than some & Harrison Macreadie/Jacob Allison lower than others. It's a hard thing to do- but if you're serious about it you just have to sit down and work them all out with a spreadsheet/calculator!!
Interesting Phantom top 3-4 seem to be the same as everyone as with the likes of Brodie, SPS and Bowes..
Can I ask your thoughts as to why the Larke Medalist isn't inside the top 20? Draft should be based on form, not past seasons. Graham was by far the best performing player at this year championship. Inside Mid, lots of teams need inside mids and he is tackling machine. I would probably pick him inside the top 15. The likes of Port Power and Adelaide, will pick him if available i believe with their first pick. Thoughts?
Like most I don't have Graham in the top 20. Just because he got the Larke Medal doesn't mean much, in my mind McGrath was the difference between Metro winning multiple games and I would of given him the medal. He isn't AIS/AFL academy which they normally like to give the medal too.
Graham's kicking is pretty poor and often just hacks the ball forward. In my view, he dominates at U18 level because of his bigger sized body. I can't see that happening at AFL level, where he will need to 'trim' off to improve his running and fitness/conditioning to play in the midfield at AFL level. So hence for me, he's in consideration for the second round.
