I would not mind getting three or four people together to place the academy kids, take the average of all the results and that will allow everyone to use this as an indicative guide for all future mock drafts.

Chris, Knightmare, Foj1, yourself...

Then we could work out the points system and create a new draft order.

To me that sounds like the best method and allows someone to have a rough guide and if they really want, they can create their own academy order.

The idea has some merit, problem is everyone rates them differently. I might have Harry Perryman higher than some & Harrison Macreadie/Jacob Allison lower than others. It's a hard thing to do- but if you're serious about it you just have to sit down and work them all out with a spreadsheet/calculator!!

Interesting Phantom top 3-4 seem to be the same as everyone as with the likes of Brodie, SPS and Bowes..
Can I ask your thoughts as to why the Larke Medalist isn't inside the top 20? Draft should be based on form, not past seasons. Graham was by far the best performing player at this year championship. Inside Mid, lots of teams need inside mids and he is tackling machine. I would probably pick him inside the top 15. The likes of Port Power and Adelaide, will pick him if available i believe with their first pick. Thoughts?

Like most I don't have Graham in the top 20. Just because he got the Larke Medal doesn't mean much, in my mind McGrath was the difference between Metro winning multiple games and I would of given him the medal. He isn't AIS/AFL academy which they normally like to give the medal too.

Graham's kicking is pretty poor and often just hacks the ball forward. In my view, he dominates at U18 level because of his bigger sized body. I can't see that happening at AFL level, where he will need to 'trim' off to improve his running and fitness/conditioning to play in the midfield at AFL level. So hence for me, he's in consideration for the second round.

If Adelaide were to take a SA player with their 1st Pick my money would be on Jonty Scharenberg if both still available at our pick, far better all round skill set and upside for mine. Having said that I'd be confident Hamish Ogilvie will take best available regardless of state of origin and won't be surprised if we put bids in on a couple of the Academy youngsters either.

Don't think the state thing will put Ogilvie off, I've seen him at a stack of TAC Cup games in Melbourne. They'll take best available regardless of state, they did bid on Harry Himmelberg last year (GWS Academy).

Just thinking something along the lines of....

Macreadie -
Chris25 - 4
Knightmare - 10
Foj1 - 6
Bishop - 4

Total 24/4 = 6

Then mock drafters if they want can rate him 6th.
Maybe we could remove the highest and lowest and take the average, this stops someone hating a player having a huge influence.

Just trying to make it slightly easier for future mock drafters so they don't have to rate the academy players, then calculate how the points affect their other draft picks. Just a simple cheat sheet for selections. The main issue potentially is the fact you don't get to show how you personally rated those academy players.

Understandable. Being from SA watching him on the weekends, his kick is far better than what he produced throughout the carnival, as his role was to be inside and clearing midfielder, which you can base off his tackling. I expect him to be around the mark come the "Kicking Test" at the combine.

I would say his frame won't worry him come AFL level. Dylan Shiel obviously not comparable as a player but weight and height wise their almost identical, Luke Parker another bigger inside midfield (frame wise). Just a comparisons thats all.
Look forward to seeing how the draft will play out, I think "in consideration for the second round' , he will more a lock for second round, he won't drift out to third round, if he does he will be a steal.

Not really sure what Adelaide will be after in the draft this year.. Im thinking they will be looking for mids, but again their mids stocks are advanced with the likes of Ellis-Yolmen (give him a game or another club will pick him up), Wigg, Knight, Lyons, Crouch x2 (Brad has doesnt much for mine) just to name a few in and out of the SANFL.
Scott Thompson has that impact in the contest and he well i can't see him being around in 2 years and I feel as if Adelaide wants a flag in 2-3 years and I feel the have a list too. Inculde Graham in that midfield as your harder, ground ball player (Thompson out Graham in). His build and mind is AFL ready. Jonty needs to find some size first, as well as confidence. I don't think he will be ready for mine till your round 16-17 ( in first year AFL) needs more than a year in the gym. Just thinking for Adelaide they are sniffing for the flag and the inclusion of Graham wouldn't be the worst pick .. Sorry for the rant

We've got enough mids with ordinary disposal by foot, we do not need another. Scharenberg is a proficient kick. Jonty has far more scope into the future, Graham is already physically developed i.e. Manchild.

He's second round for me as I said. Never been a big believer in the testing results, much different to game situations.

That's the major point I think. He'll have to trim off at AFL level anyway when he gets to preseason, he's more developed than the others in the champs so did well.

Will be updated by the end of the week. And then I'll do a 'Phantom Draft' of sorts the following week.

Looking forward to seeing that Bishop.
The way Carlton are playing we could very well end up with a top 5 pick now.

They could well be. Took some talls last year so I'd probably think they'll learn to a midfielder- But I do think they should be taking best available.

The Phantom Draft I do will be based on the ladder as of that weekend.

Hey Bishop do you rate Luke Bunker and Taylin Duman?
Haven't seen them mentioned much and I thought they were pretty solid for VM.

I really like Luke Bunker. Thought his work on the inside was great for Metro. I've seen him a few times for Northern Knights & at school football and I'm a fan. I have him in the #40s at the moment, was just a consistent ball winner across the carnival.

I have Duman a little bit back as a late pick/rookie. I'm not sure where he fits in at 192cm- Don't think he plays tall and has the endurance/skills to play off a wing. I'd say he probably is one that puts on some weight at AFL level (currently 79kg) but I've liked his work for Oakleigh.

There are a few very nice movements on your bigboard that I've been waiting to see if anyone else was on the same page as me.

Interesting to know who they are, it's interesting that nobody has the same consensus this year- compared to most years it's pretty obvious who will relatively go where.

Without seeing all of the championships.

Would Zac Sproule be a genuine option at pick 19?

GWS have that abundance of key forwards. With Marshall likely to go between our 1st and 2nd picks, Sproule shapes as an interesting prospect as someone genuinely attainable.

Personally I see GWS matching Perryman, Macreadie and Setterfield (plus I'd say Max Lynch ruckman). I think they've got enough points to do it as in matching, but I reckon they overlook Mutch- think they have enough of those types on their list.

Sproule will be interesting, leads nicely up the ground and roams up the ground more than other KPFs. Do GWS need him? McCarthy leaves, never know about Jon Patton- I'd be throwing coin at him if I was a club looking for a fwd. Himmelberg has played well in defence for GWS in the reserves too.

I'd say 50/50 that GWS overlook him, I think the fact that he's a KPF they might match the bid- depending on where that comes. I like him, I'd bid on him with #19 for example.

Also, would like to say that it's good to see someone else rating Reece Piper (51).

Has all the attributes to be a handy small defender/outside midfielder.

Like him as a back pocket, uses it well good run and dash out of the backline. Not going to be a big disposal winner, but someone who kicks it well and plays a good role in the back pocket.

Wizard17 on the Dogs board has been pretty keen on Lachlan Murphy from the Knights as a small defender, like seeing him enter your big board. I reckon he looks a likely fourth round-rookie type.

Like his left foot across half back. I think he's a chance for a late pick, have seen him play earlier in the year + at school footy and was good. Pushed a bit more up the ground last week more so than usual I'm told- One to keep an eye on. Northern Knights won't play finals, so he'll have 2-3 more schools games then 4-5 TAC Cup games this season.

Will get a better idea come the combine invites which are usually out by the end of the month where he stands.

Matthew Signorello is the other one that I've been thinking could be around late from the Knights. Inside midfielder with incredibly good hands and contested ball winning ability. Reminds me a little bit of Libba.
