Bishop, how has Davies-Uniacke progressed this year?...how has he gone in matches?, how is his body progressing?, how are Clubs/Academies talking about him?....is he looking like really pointy end of draft?

As a Carlton guy looking at about Pick 2-6 and a Mid, my 3 guys are D.Fogarty, Davies-Uniacke and O'brien...probably in that order. I prefer Fog and D-U to Rayner personally.

LDU has been really good this year. The four games he has played:
TAC Cup Round 1: 30 disposals, 9 clearances, 9 inside 50s
AFL Academy Game v Northern Blues VFL: 22 Disposals, 6 clearances
School football v Melbourne Grammar: Was very good
School football v Brighton Grammar: Outstanding with 32 disposals and six goals

He has had injury set backs in the past and that kept him out for TAC Cup Game 2 and the first AFL Academy game - but should be over them. Clubs are talking about him as a top five prospect, so he will be at the pointy end if he stays fit. His game against the VFL was superb to watch and I quote one club on the weekend "he is the most ready to go and could walk into an AFL club this week and not look out of place"

If D.Fog can move into a full time mid role that's the order I'd have it - but LDUs form in the last few weeks I'd take him over D.Fog.

Hi mate I'm interested in your thoughts on Adam Cerra including his playing style and a potential player comparison?

Cerra is averaging 25+ disposals per game, with over half of these contested. I hate player comparisons, as they just arent right. No two players are the same. His work in traffic is really good and he is well composed with ball in hand. Finds the ball and uses it well on his right foot.

I'd have him in consideration for a Top Five selection at this stage.

Thanks mate I look forward to watching him in the U18 champs.

I agree that player comparisons are generally a pointless exercise, however, I can't seem to pin point any one player that he is similar to and it is really bugging me as he doesn't appear to be a real unique type in the mould of a Bontempelli for example.

He just seems like a reliable, quality, inside/outside mid who finds a lot of the footy and uses it well.

Thoughts on Krueger for SA? Chance for Port's second rounder? Who do you see as the best small, crumbing forward types?

I really like Kreuger, I've got him rated inside what would be the first round. It'll depend on his champs on where he goes up or down. Does some freaky things for a tall and has plenty of X-Factor. One that clubs rate.

Charlie Spargo & Jack Higgins are two decent crumbers that can roll through the midfield that will go in the first few rounds (sub 180cms)

Brent Daniels, Aaron Trusler & Gryan Miers are three boys who have been good in the TAC Cup/School footy and the like to start the year and are better small forwards.

Hi Bishop. I'm interested in Robert Irra. I assume Port would be interested as they have his older brother at the club. Player type / likely to be drafted?

"Small crumbling forwards" Meh. The last thing anyone should be looking for is small fast opportunistic players that can chip in if everything goes right.

All the elite small forwards in the game are elite because they are great competitive one on one contested players. They just win one on ones and make things happen when the ball is in the area.

Port (and any other team for the matter) don't need small sized forwards. We have plenty of small forwards. What we need is outside mids or half forwards that can push up on the wing and push back into forward fifty. The roles we have been playing sam gray , wingard , Amon and Matty White in.

Having said that if we did want or need small forwards, they question being asked of Bishop should be who are the best contested guys who just get wins up forward who can gut run up field with good pace and kicks but dangerous when they push back forward?

Probably more of a rookie type - whilst his form has been solid in the SANFL U18s with his contested possession numbers being higher than I would've expected. Normally plays his best on the wing. In the SA Internal trial at the start of the year, he had good work rate with some nice flashing. But it was his consistency which was lacking.

Players such as Cameron Rayner and Darcy Fogarty are two of the more powerful players that can play up forward and through the midfield. Whilst Rayner's tank in particular will need a lot of work - the pair both have some really good X-Factor.

Jack Higgins as above - is another who is good contested and a great goal sneak - his issue will be speed and running hard defensively.

Higgins is a top 10-15 pick for mine. I rate him highly! Will be a great asset for any side next year as he is ready made.

I like him but he has some flaws.
He is not great at stoppages. His kicking doesn't hurt the opposition enough for mine and defensive running isn't great.
Will be a Nathan hrovat type at least you would hope he can develop into a Luke power.

Yep agree. Speaking to certain people - they see him as a 15-30 pick.

Doesn't have a huge upside as other players- especially as he is 100% concentrating on footy with no school etc. Might be ready made - but don't think his upside is great.

Will there be/who would be KPP's available in the 2nd 3rd rounds who would be valuable, maybe not as stars, but as decent role players worth picking up?

Generally with talls - if they're any good they go in the top 25 & if they aren't they get taken as rookies.

As I say a fair bit - there's numbers that if they aren't taken in the Top 25 talls don't make it at AFL level - there are exceptions of course.

But in a draft with little depth like this years - the best talls will go early and I dare say some of the other talls will be overlooked completely as they aren't AFL standard (eg: Some endurance is poor, too 'fat', too slow)

Is Dylan Whimpress still in the picture to be drafted? I saw he is playing reserves for South Adelaide this year. He seemed to have enough tools to be drafted given his lack of work in a system.

Probably unlikely, hasn't set the world on fire this season in the Reserves. Was more of an outside chance last year after a solid champs game at Etihad Stadium. I think if a club was seriously keen they would've drafted him last year.

Hye Bishop, mind If I make my own draft thread mate?

Been looking over them for a few years now and think I might be up to it.

Everyone is welcome to open up a draft thread - as long as you watch the talent, you have the right to an opinion & view on the players.

Have updated the second post with my updated rankings as of May 10th.

Player-by-player notes will be periodically uploaded over the next few days - so watch this space with that.

Any questions fire away as always!

Noticed you have Petruccelle at pick 15. I'm a fan of him and I think with his skill set he has the potential to rise into the top 10. Do you see this as a realistic possibility?

His marking (leap) and speed are simply outstanding - it sets him apart from some of the others in the draft pool for a midfielder. What has surprised me has been his contested possession numbers in the TAC Cup this year. What lacks is his kicking which is poor and is a work in progress. He's got the athletic traits that clubs will like very much.

It's a possibility - unlikely for me at this stage as I think his skills just need to be improved a bit more. But it's a long season and things can change quickly - we've also seen players in the past with poor Kicking Efficiency/Kicking fall down the order so it's a wait and see.

Bishop, who would you say the most athletic Key Forward this year is (excluding Fogarty)?

I wouldn't rate Fogarty as a Key Forward anyway - he's more of a third tall at the next level.

Noah Balta by far is the best athletic Key Forward. His speed is elite – with only Sandringham Dragons bottom-age twins Max and Ben King faster than Balta’s time of 2.983 seconds for a player over 193cm in the 20 metre sprint on TAC Cup testing day. His agility is ranked in the top five percentile, while his beep of 13.4 leaves an area of small improvement despite him being better than 60 per cent of the competition.

He's very raw in a sense and plays as a midfielder at times. What is holding him back is his running/leading patterns. If you go and watch him out at RAMS Arena or anywhere - he isn't sure where to go when the ball is kicked out of defence and where to stand/defend. Calder are using him mostly as their No.1 ruck due to his good leap and athletic traits - so he isn't having the chance to learn as a Key Forward for long periods. It will be interesting to see where Vic Metro play him.

Bishop what's the main reason for having Cerra at 5? I like him a lot and he's in the 10-15 range at the moment for me, but I didn't think he'd be that highly rated by anyone, yet

Some clubs would make a case you could take him at #1. He's a very good player and probably isn't getting enough recognition from others because of his lay off last year through injury and the fact that he isn't in the AFL Academy. He wins the contested ball, is clean with disposal on his right foot, clearance work is very good and he knows where to stand. What also stand him out from others is his good work taking the ball inside 50 and hitting targets there, rather than just bombing it forward. He makes his disposals count unlike some of the other big ball winners such as Jack Higgins from Oakleigh.

By the numbers in the TAC Cup he's averaging 27 disposals (15 contested), 5 marks, 7 clearances and 6 inside 50s.

I see you have Ling in your top 30 now, I really like his speed and dare and he is so clean aswell I remember his game against Eastern he was picking up the ball without breaking stride.
