I hope that doesn't mean we're going towards Allen as our primary target. Good footballer, just doesn't meet our needs.
I think that's a fairly one-dimensional assessment of Allen, has high potential in a number of roles.

He plays as a KPF in 18's, but when we are in dire need of midfield talent, taking Allen doesn't make sense right now. I he's available at 21 we'd have a good look, but not at 13. 13 has to be a midfielder. He would be developed in time to replace Kennedy. Mids can plug in without as long a runup.
I have heard people touting him as having midfield potential. But why would we take that risk? He may not grow from 191cm and be stuck as a third tall for the rest of his career, which we already have plenty of.I think that's a fairly one-dimensional assessment of Allen, has high potential in a number of roles.

Whats your view on Oscar Clavarino would love him at the tigers.

My rationale is that our midfield is our weakest part of our team; picking Allen, who I agree is a very good footballer, does not address that need. Whilst I get that Constable is likely available at 13 and that we have 4 picks after that to add midfield talent, we lack the B-grade and above midfielders to make a difference. If a team takes a tall before 13 then the range available to us gets better. What do you recommend for the Eagles to address our midfield?I don't get this approach - why does it *have* to be a midfielder. From the way I have it - what midfielder do you take? Maybe Constable. But other than that there aren't any in that range. If you need mids, you don't just grab one way too early out of necessity, especially if a fair few will be there at 21.
You can grab a midfielder at 21 (Possibly Ed Richards, Lochie O'Brien etc) + Tim Kelly in the 2nd round. Nothing wrong with taking Allen at 13 - he's a very good footballer.

Bishop, we appear to be in the midst of a cunning plan to cut every player who has ever kicked a goal in their career, with only four (!) players remaining that have ever kicked over 20 goals in a season.
Who in your eyes are the most capable goalkickers/high IQ forwards likely to be available at 9, 16 and the rookie draft? Our two early picks seem to be in a tricky position to be in for that particular need, so especially interested in the late options if you have any names to offer up.
Thanks for that.I reckon Oscar Allen, Jack Higgins & Nathan Murphy are such players likely available in that 9-16 range. Might be a small reach for Gryan Miers at Pick 16 - but Dal does back himself & his recruiters in.
Brent Daniels/Charlie Spargo/Dylan Moore are others that could play small forward but won't be there at Pick 82 (I think Dogs have) but too early at 9/16.
Looking through the prospects, there aren't that many small forwards that'll be around in the rookie draft. Aaron Trusler a Dogs supporter is a rookie-undrafted prospect, maybe they consider him if they want speed/smarts around goal. But there aren't too many others that stand out from right across the country.
Adam Sambono another - but not sure how he'd go transitioning down to Victoria.
problem is, we're hand picking the best players from those drafts. dont have the benefit of hindsight with the 2017 draft yet.
2017 crop is being underrated i think. but time will tell.
The best midfielder available.I don't get this approach - why does it *have* to be a midfielder. From the way I have it - what midfielder do you take?
If Sam Hayes slides to 13, should we take him, despite not needing a ruckman? To take the best player available at each pick inside top 20-25.
Thanks for that.
Do you actually view Higgins as a forward? I've heard some say he's definitely a midfielder and others that he could certainly be a high-level forward if played/developed as such.
Also, how much of a reach do you think Allen would be at 9? I have mixed feelings about him.
One more - are you able to tell me a little more about Trusler?
The best midfielder available.
If Sam Hayes slides to 13, should we take him, despite not needing a ruckman?
Not necessarily. I'd make a decision based on a range of considerations, weighted in favour of the best available midfielder. If the best midfielder available at Pick 13 is one that should go in the 2nd round, do you take them? No - you take the best player available.

For sure, I was being slightly facetious - but if you have a look at our list as a whole there are very few who you would refer to as at all threatening goal kickers. It's probably the most obvious hole on the list.It is important to remember you also added Schache and he looked very good as a junior playing as a forward.

Jack Higgins at AFL level will be a pure small goal kicking forward IMO. Unless he grows a couple of inches he is probably too short to play midfield regularly.
