Most people who have watched Naish this year have always said picks around 25-30

Its only really Twomey & Buckenara that have him 1st round
Agreed ......IMO you'll probably be using your pick #25 .....that seems around the mark

Yup. Bid on Watson first, and I’ve rewatched it on YouTube a few times, I swear North didn’t want the kid by the reaction of the North recruiters.
Hm, interesting. Few have said that their were better KPD options on the board. I liked the sound of him until I found out he was only 191cm and then of course he did his ACL...

Of course he does....He's purposely trying to down-play his rating is all....The Tigers have no chance of getting 3 + Naish inside pick 25.

I don't have any allegiance when rating the kids. Why would I play it down? Maybe clubs are going to come on here & see that I don't rate him, so won't bid.

really hope Constable gets to 15 bish him or Clark exactly what brisbane need inside mids build depth ! is Pecturelle real chance at 18 or touch too high ? think LDU goes at 1 seems his finals form has lifted himself to 1

Agree ideal if Constable or Clark can get there. I think LDU is one - probably a touch too early for Petruccelle, but we'll see.

Bishop ......have to say this years efforts is your finest effort .....the content & your responses have been superb :thumbsu:

Thanks :D - plenty more stuff to come in the lead up to the draft. Will throw a full Phantom Draft out, finalise the rankings & copy across notes etc on early posts that I said I'd add in this week!

Hey Bishop I have it on good authority that recruiters from every club base their selections on your phantom, which is why you have rated Naish so poorly. Be a champ & skew your phantom so the Lions can draft Dow, LDU & Brayshaw. Cheers mate.

Wow, seriously!?

Both slow but Kennedy in particular. Did he have a broken leg or something at the time!?

You've got to remember this is their results as U18s - clubs do a lot of work on conditioning. Players can improve endurance/speed etc in AFL environment. As below, it's not that slow.

3.1 is a standard time. For someone 195cm+, 3.16s would be acceptable.

Yep. 3.1s was the average at this year's National Combine - that figure includes the "smalls" & the "talls" - most talls generally a touch slower than 3.1s

North went mad bidding on Academy/F/S players last year. Three bids in a row I think? Josh Williams, Callum Brown and Watson.

They had form before as well - Wagner (now delisted) too.

Agree with the point about the tall guys; but if anyone wants to be absolutely baffled, you'll struggle to see two talls that seem as slow and lackadaisical as Schoenmakers and Watts but they both ran sub 3 seconds.

Watts: 2.82
Schoey: 2.9

Excellent post - the presence of 35 other footballers, a football and four posts at each end can often make a fast 20m runner look very slow.

No point being able to run fast if you don’t know when to go to get that break on an opponent.

Question to Bishop (thanks) but you have us taking Murphy at 14 which according to Cal Twomey is quite high. What do you think the Swans see in him?

Also what do you think of Ed Richards as he seems like a player who would be really good at setting up attacking plays in defence. I only saw him in the All Stars game but would he be worth a pick 14?

That’s an awful 3km from Riewoldt. He’d still be gutted about that for sure. :p

Cal Twomey isn't the be-all & end-all : He has Bonar near the 20 mark, he's going to be picked in the top 10 on draft night for example.

Cal is great at what he does - but he's no different to Brett Anderson, KM, myself etc etc -- if you see enough you're entitled to an opinion & that is Cal's. Everyone's opinion is different to the AFL recruiters, and even then they don't have the same orders!

Think the Swans reckon he can transition into a midfielder long term, very clean at ground level, has footballing smarts, massive upside. Good mark & solid kicking technique.

Ed was superb for Carey Grammar at school then continued that into the latter half of the season for the Chargers. I think he's a chance to go in the first round, so Pick 14 wouldn't be too far off the mark - but I'm not sure Swans would select him. Elite speed across HBF, good ball user - possesses quick/fast hands & rebounds it well.
