Phantom Draft Bishop's 2017 Draft Thread

I'd rule us out personally, backline is one of the few areas we run pretty deep these days.

I can see him slipping - just seems at every pick there's another player the selecting club would want/need more. I was thinking the best chances were Adelaide (replace Lever, although I don't completely buy into the "replace player x" idea) or West Coast as you said. Richmond I think would take one or two of the plentiful KPFs in their range, they've set themselves up nicely to do so. What do you think about GWS or Brisbane?

From what I'm told - don't rule it out 100% from the Dogs.

GWS maybe - but I'm inclined to think they'd take someone small or with speed. Brisbane will go mids I'm expecting, no need for talls. Have plenty of young ones developing.

I’ve read here that he pissed a few recruiters off by missing a session. I dare say if he had called ahead to let the coach know, it wouldn’t have been mentioned at all.

It’s merely a logical presumption.

Interesting, have heard we're not into talls this draft but you never know.
I do know we're linked to Nath Murphy or "someone expected to be there at pick 13" (hence the attempt to downgrade our first rounder this year with WCE.

Not to turn this into a Western Bulldogs thread, but if we do go Naughton I'd say that puts Adams forward - and probably Boyd in the ruck.

Either way top 10 picks tend to be more "best available" than needs picks although I suspect we'll nab a bolter 9 & 16 - Nath Murphy / Gryan Miers double could work just to get everyone on BF shaking their heads.

Normally I'd agree about best available but my issue with taking a KPD is that they probably won't be best available when they're hidden behind six other KPDs and being forced to play half back or forward.

Got a gut feeling about Murphy and Houlahan. Not sure why.

We'd have to take advantage of our talls' versatility in some way, that's for sure. Odd position for be in for a Bulldog fan. Remember our 2014 draft? People were livid we passed on talls like Oscar McDonald.

No he's not. Just not a player I rate & haven't hate him in the mix really all year. Didn't catch my eye last year, despite seeing him a fair few times. Thought he was a bit "unco" and that kicking style is no good.

But that's my rankings - I'll back my "Talent ID" in.

Yes he missed training session with East Freo. Didn't want anything to do with Perth city life, so returned home.
East Perth coaxed him back into rethinking WAFL football and he all but committed to East Perth only for him to sign with $ubi who waved extra dollars in his face (not that I blame him for that)
He's missed training sessions with Subi.
Missed training with WA state squad at the showgrounds when there were several recruiters there. Recruiters, in particular Port were pretty pissed.

Im curious as to why you have the Dogs taking Naughton at #9 given the number of key defenders on the list as well as them bringing in Trengove via free agency.

I think that the FWD/MID position needs bolstering with Picken and Dickson getting older. I reckon if Bonar is still available at #9 he would be a perfect replacement for Stringer. If not Higgins would be my next choice.

might want to check with subi on points 3 and 4 ;-)

is there really much diff between Rayner and LDU ? obv lions will take LDU cuz is the pure mid also is there some small chance higgins gets to 15 or will he be gone by then ?
