Phantom Draft Bishop's 2017 Draft Thread

Mate I was at State training.

I work with the guy who recruited Ryan to Subi, he told me about his Subi non appearances.

Over to you.

pulled up sore, after leaving the ground early the week before. was still proppy against peel the week after.

his ankle has needed to be managed as the season went on

so you spoke to the port recruiters and they told you they were pissed? specifically what recruiter?

also you work with michael and he told you the inside word and criticism of a bloke they're trying to draft that would see them receive compensation for him leaving?

as for the east freo comment, i would have thought the reason for him passing on that club would be obvious given the history there

Yes everyone has heard his pi$$ weak injury excuses, he was still required at training and he knew it.

Spoke to a guy from Port called Joel or Jordan?? He was with a few others who I don't know, but they didn't need to tell me they were pissed, i'm sure you don't need someone to tell you something to confirm their feelings at the time.

No not Michael, Subi's previous Football Manager.

He didn't leave East because of its problems he left because he couldn't handle the commitment and was homesick.

i can tell you it wasnt made up. the players are not obliged to make state training, if they're not fit to do so. their obligation is to their club. like i said, players will miss training due to work commitments.

he never joined east freo, so how can he leave?

Yes he signed transfer papers from his Gero club and a form 12 or whatever they are called these days.

My point is he is a talented footballer, but has huge commitment issues that all clubs will be aware of.

His training non-appearances aren't "a bunch of assumptions" as you stated.

ryan never signed any papers for east freo. he never joined them!!! hence why subi were able to sign him without having to pay east fremantle for the transfer fee. east freo never showed any real interest, hence why he never ended up playing for them. the only link to east freo that he had was that he was in their zone. that's it. it never went beyond that

i think you are massively over playing it. statements like this:
"huge commitment issues"

i would hardly call him playing pretty much two full seasons after coming down from country and living with his grandma, as a teenager, being "huge commitment issues". you want an example of a player from the same zone with "huge commitment issues" then its simpson. not ryan.

as i said there are reasons why players miss training sessions for their club, let along a state squad where they have no obligation to turn up

You would think if he wanted and had the commitment to make it to the afl, he would of made it too state training obligated or not.

On a side note amazing effort bishop one of the best non bias draft boards going around.

is there really much diff between Rayner and LDU ? obv lions will take LDU cuz is the pure mid also is there some small chance higgins gets to 15 or will he be gone by then ?

I think there is to a degree, but if the Lions were Hawthorn for example - I reckon they'd take him as the No.1 pick. Homesickness in the back of their mind & they want a pure mid.

Higgins likely gone - but not 100%.

So the Dogs have elected to use pick 82 - any ideas? :p

Maybe a Gippsland Power lad such as Matthew McGannon or Cal Porter.

depends how you look at it. will playing in the state game make or break his chances to be drafted. i would have thought no

would his performance in the WAFL for the 2nd half of the season, including finals. i would have thought so

same reason why some of the u18's just dont partake in the combine

So why not advise everyone that he wasn't going to attend when he was expected to instead of being a no show.

No that's not true at all, East Perth were in the throws of arranging a transfer with East Freo when Subi swooped in. His commitment issues don't stop at training non attendance.

Half way through the year I asked Freo and West Coast about him and they thought he was probably a long shot to get drafted but if you ask Ryan and his dad they will tell you he will end up at Port, so it'll be interesting. And have heard that West Coast have spoken to him a fair bit recently too.

Someone on the Port board confirmed they were in Perth to see him at the missed state training session.

This thread has already been derailed by the both of us talking about Ryan so this is the last thing I will say.

Bishop

No Callum Coleman-Jones in your top 50 Rankings??

(copied & paste)
No he's not. Just not a player I rate & haven't hate him in the mix really all year. Didn't catch my eye last year, despite seeing him a fair few times. Thought he was a bit "unco" and that kicking style is no good.

But that's my rankings - I'll back my "Talent ID" in.

I don't expect him to feature inside the top 50 on draft night either.

I think if CCJ happened to be there at 39 the Crows take him as home grown talent, only real back up we have for Jacobs who's not getting any younger is Reilly O'Brien who's a pure Ruckman whereas CCJ has shown to be handy up forward as well as Ruck......time will tell. Port after moving Lobbe on might have interest too perhaps.

Checkmate
Lol no it's not

Ricky Nixon also claims to work in the industry. Said he helped a bunch of clubs work through trades this year.

Doesn't mean it's true does it!!!

The one thing ive learnt is no one of note comes on here to claim they have inside goss. They're too busy for that.

I've actually met Tundra in real life and his claims on his work are correct.
