Fair enough but he's been more and more prepared to leave his man recently and help teammates kill a contest especially as a 3rd man up in marking contests and has shown some ability to take the game on with run and rebound. I could see him playing a similar role to Adelaide's Luke Brown on both dangerous medium and small forwards, certainly wouldn't be expected to take on some of the KPP's he's had at TAC level at times. Also must be remembered he's not surrounded by a lot of class in this year's Rebel defence.

I think he is good enough to be drafted...surely the recruiters would've looked at his last few weeks

What are the odd's of someone like LDU or Cerra dropping to 7/8 purely because of the Stepheson/Higgins hype?

Well I saw at least 3 recruiters/list managers i recognised there today SOS, Matt Rendell and Hamish Ogilvie and that was without really looking too hard.

I couldn't see Cerra slipping that low- LDU maybe. I don't think Higgins has really changed. I'm not spending a top 8 pick on a small forward like him. Think Stephenson's always been in that top 10 consideration regardless of his year which has seasawed from being decent at the start of the year, poor leading up to champs, good in the champs at Etihad - average for a few more weeks, then very good lately.

Majority were there at Ballarat today, only a few stayed back to do Calder v Western & VFL. Couple interstate as per the norm.

All serious AFL club recruiters were at Ballarat today.

Good time to start putting in strong performances as we get to the pointy of the the season.

With Calder/Western streamed as well it was the obvious choice. More footy, more players (higher rated teams bar the first game).

Yep & gotta remember he slotted in for the Roosters not looking out of place either!

AFL Victoria created the triple header at Ballarat after IKON was shut down primarily to suit recruiters.

Some of these people do it full time as their job. They're supposed to be there watching as many games live as they can.

Allows you to see what players are doing off the ball, how they interact with coaching staff, whether they switch off during games, etc.

In my estimation, there would have been at least 50 state/national combine invites running around at Eureka today. If you weren't there watching them, you're cutting corners.

And the Rebels>>>>>>>>Roosters too ;)

And pantsed AFL listed Kale Kirby the VFL leading goalkicker that day.

I think both Brisbane teams will overlook him.

He'll be in the mix for their pick - but he isn't a pure midfielder. I still think the Blues need an inside midfielder and I'd be targeting LDU (let's say Cerra & Dow are off the board). I also think they'll consider Charlie Constable as a similar player to Patty Cripps on the inside.

I do rate Rayner at 1 - but I don't think he's too good to pass up. Considering BL & GC do in my example - Rayner still does have his weaknesses (as do every player) but if they want a full time midfielder he isn't the man, but if the Blues want an exciting Fwd-Mid in the Robbie Gray/Christian Petracca mould, he's the guy.

Who would have the better leadership qualities and character out of Rayner and LDU?

What sort of player do you see Stephenson most likely being at AFL level?

Rayner's 'one of the boys' in every team, so gets well respected by his peers and they like him. Hard to split with either, I don't know exactly who would be better as I don't know them in depth personally.

High half forward for me. Maybe in the Charlie Curnow mould down the track - but probably isn't going to be 'strong' as him body wise. He's pretty unique Stephenson, so you couldn't really compare him to someone. But think he'll be best suited to a high HFF, I'm not sure he becomes a full time mid - his strengths up forward are hard to pass up for my liking.

What about as an Isaac Smith style winger?

Is it wrong to not rate Dow at 1 can't say I'm happy to draft him as a Lions Member but most draft watchers now have him linked to us at pick 1
No.

Rayner is most likely the best kid in the draft.

Cerra & LDU are pretty vanilla. Get the job done, but lack excitement.

If Dow was LDU's & Rayner's size, he'd be right up there as a genuine number 1 option.

I've said it before, Dow could conceivably be a taller version of Dayne Zorko for a Lions comparison.

Bish what are your thoughts on Cassidy Parish, heard hes in the top handful of clearance players in the TAC but his kicking is the knock on him. Only invited to state screening as well.

Is there any chance RFC could trade their 2 firsts for one of North/St.kilda/Collingwood/Fremantle picks or would these clubs be crazy to trade out of the first 4-7 picks?
Daniel Rioli, pick 15 and 16 for picks 7 and 8. Would you do it?
