Is it wrong to not rate Dow at 1 can't say I'm happy to draft him as a Lions Member but most draft watchers now have him linked to us at pick 1

I don't rate Dow 1 - but then again it's hard when I haven't seen him as much as the clubs have.

Based on his numbers, he's the guy I'd take at 1 - still don't think it'll be Rayner to the Lions either.

Bish what are your thoughts on Cassidy Parish, heard hes in the top handful of clearance players in the TAC but his kicking is the knock on him. Only invited to state screening as well.

Late-Rookie pick, kicking is woeful but his clearance work is one of the best in the U18 system. I do reckon he's gotten a bit better than earlier in the year, only had 1 'dinky' pass yesterday whereas in earlier games such as the Vic Country trial he had plenty of them around the ground.

Hey bishop, the tac cup team of the year is out. Any surprises in there?

Bernacki was runner up in the Morrish Medal & didn't make the squad - TAC Cup leading goalkicker Daniel Johnston didn't make the team of the year.

Overall it's based on the U18 Champs & TAC Cup for players to make the team of the year, so no surprise the "big names" made it.

Who votes in the rounds for the Morrish, I take it that the selectors for the team of the year are a different panel?

Does that move Bernacki into draft or rookie contention for you? He has had a consistent workrate all year. But is it what he does with it or when he isnt in the play that is his down side?

Not for me. I still peg him as a rookie or undrafted - probably in the undrafted camp. At sub 180cm, you've generally gotta be good at 'everything' - Bernacki is an below average/average kick and is 'slow', two traits that I don't expect to fit in well at the next level. No doubt he has very good ball winning abilities, but not sure it'll appeal to clubs.

A tall & then a rebounding defender

So a tall either Noah Balta or Sam Hayes & then a rebounding defender either Matt Ling or Lochie O'Brien.

That'd be my guess at the moment.
Are you a fan of trading up for brander or someone else or staying as is and looking for points for naish

Not for me, I'd rather try and trade up for a tall next year. You'll need a top five pick to get Brander - I'm pretty confident Freo take him.

Don't need points for Naish, will be able to match a bid in the 15-25 range. Can always go into deficit in the second round if required for next year, but I'd expect someone with some small currency to go out for a third rounder etc if they were worried.

Only 1 pio in the team of the year. Thought there would of been more than that?

....and he played a whopping 3 games of TAC football.

FYI - only one Charger (finished 1st), one Bushranger (finished 5th) and one Dragon (finished 4th) made the team too, so put it in some perspective.

Pioneers finished clearly last by 2.5 games from second last FWIW.

TOTY is purely based on who played well in the U18 Champs. To suggest otherwise is counter intuitive.

Have you seen anything, or heard anything on Tasmanian Hugh Dixon?

Been good in the TSL - but the standard of that is the worse of any of the state leagues around the country. I've got him pegged as a late pick/rookie (as do people I've spoke to), can certainly mark the ball (especially contested grabs)- but lacks athleticism/endurance in his game.

Worth a rookie spot? D_P_S said you may have seen our next generation academy prospect Dan Hanna, (199cm KPF), what can you tell me about him? We are light on for KPF so a free shot with a Cat B would seem to good to be true.

Posted this the other day:
There's potential upside with Hanna - and when you can get a developing tall with an elite tank, very good leap for free, I think they will be willing to put a few years in. Needs to put on a lot of muscle, but that's what S&C coaches do with every player - whether they're a top 10 or the last player picked in the draft. Kicking technique needs work, but he has shown he can mark the ball. Has had a broken finger for a chunk of the season and is out for the rest of the year. Also runs a 14.2 on the beep.

Just think they'll consider him as a Cat B - based more on what I hear, but those sort of picks are a free hit.

thanks for the insight. Seems like a similar player to Joe Daniher. Would always like another near 2m kpf on the list

Then why call it TAC Cup team of the year.

I totally agree. It's a farce.

If they were being honest it would be called for what it is.

"Team That Represents Our Best Attempt at Putting 24 of the Top 30 TAC Listed Players We Think Will Get Drafted In the First Two Rounds Into Playing Positions".

I'm surprised they didn't try to sneak Charlie Spargo into a forward pocket. (FWIW - he hasn't played all year but is projected to get drafted between 15-30).

Should have to play at least 6 games. The whole thing is based around those who get everything anyhow! what about recognising those who have busted their arses all year and get nothing? The competition needs to be careful that its not seen to be only looking after a chosen few.
