Phantom Draft Bishop's 2017 Draft Thread

The doubt around D.Fogarty seems to be whether he can become a midfielder in time. In your opinion Bishop, does he have the potential to become a good key forward? From what I have read, he seems to have a lot of the same attributes as Tex Walker - strength, football IQ, good footskills but a bit undersized. Is that a fair comparison? Do you agree with some others who think that unless Fogarty becomes a midfielder in time he is not worth a high pick?

Giantroo keep doing what you're doing though! Got any more Cerra/Dow/Rayner TAC footage? Or Bonar?

I've posted a few more videos of Cerra and Dow on my channel/ twitter.

As for Bonar, I'm still trying to source footage from what's available.

Just curious who you think might still be in the range for Ports first picks. I think we're missing a ruckman and key back. Who do you think might still be around in late 40s early 50s?

I don't think Brisbane should be taking a punt at all this draft. They should pick the safest of the top 3 or 4 options.
Doesn't always work out to be the safest though RUNVS, we were close to 100% certain with Schache, sometimes you just don't know until they get up here.

I've heard Simon Black and Luke Power interviewed recently and both said they were terribly homesick in their first few years but they stuck it out and reaped the rewards later.

Stephenson, or is he not expected to be available?

Throw him in that mix too. Knew I'd forgotten someone.

Not for me. I don't have him inside my top 10. I don't think he becomes a key forward either, I actually don't mind him as a third tall at either end. Maybe even a defender. I don't think he's shown enough to be a high pick in my opinion.

I don't see Landt from the Cannons name being mentioned now. What is the story with him?

Not one I rate, I'd peg him as a rookie.

is Dow a good chance to land at North pick #4?

Not sure - no guarantees with any top 5 pick. In the mix though.

I know they've spoken to Jackson Ross, not sure there is a ruckman in that range for them to take. KPD Harry Petty/Sam Taylor if they're on the board there could well be considered.

I've seen enough in those highlights to be excited if we grab him at 7/8.

Like his aggression, his marking, his ability to get the ball above his head to prevent it being held in in a tackle, his willingness to bring others into the game and his 2nd and 3rd efforts and tackling.

Awesome job giantroo - you're a star.

Bonars physicality is good, reminded me of watching NicNat with the repeat chases and pressure and tackling. I think that's an excellent trait in a young player and given his size you wouldn't think would be an issue transitioning to the next levels up. Especially as his fitness and strength improves in an AFL environment.

Would love him to get to 13. There is risk given his injury history, but boy the reward could be high.

No interest I'm told. I would've drafted him last year, not this year.

Bang on average for vertical jumps, speed was just above average at 3.08s, agility was well below average with 8.89s, Yo-Yo of 20.8 was below average and he was pretty much bang on with 6min 52s in the 2km time trial. Both kicking below average.

You do need to remember that he's had one of the biggest seasons in terms of game time, playing in a TAC Cup GF on the Sunday, All Stars on Saturday & then onto the Combine by the Tuesday.

Is in the 30-50 bracket.

Yeah reasonably - he hasn't had a great 2nd half to the season after a decent champs. I definitely had hoped for more - but he's one that I think is a 2nd round prospect.

Bishop any idea on Garners numbers? And Worpel seems average on the combine stuff yet his impact in games seem higher than his number .. good value from 30 on?

Surely by now you got a read on who eagles think will be available?

Sounds like maybe they just don’t know who will fall into their lap with the lucky 13.

i was given to think i'd buried the bishop some time ago...

Seems most forum focus in on top 20s, 30s, couple of rounds, etc.

I think Dylan should get rookied at least, maybe a late pick up from a Melbourne club in the ND. He’s probably the Cannons 3rd best chance (after Noah and Mitch) as it seems Bernacki hasn’t caught the attention unfortunately, though Tilley could also surprise.
