Phantom Draft Bishop's 2017 Draft Thread

Bonar looks quite good, my only concern is whether he could adapt to the pace of AFL good enough. Looks like he is agile, yes, but takes his time picking up the ball etc.

Just my opinion based on that one highlight video. Could definitely become a player.

have you seen that one video of me burying the bishop?

if you had you'd realise that taking your time to pick up the ball is an essential in modern footy.

Just curious who you think might still be in the range for Ports first picks. I think we're missing a ruckman and key back. Who do you think might still be around in late 40s early 50s?

Certainly no DFA's ......you'e taken them all, already :p

What do you see L Fogarty as in AFL ? small fwd mid or HF mid

Small Forward/Half forward. Think his pressure/tackling numbers suggest he can be an important 5th-6th forward.

Bishop any idea on Garners numbers? And Worpel seems average on the combine stuff yet his impact in games seem higher than his number .. good value from 30 on?

Worpel will be good value from 30+ - probably ready to go, but possible "upside" is lower than others in the 2nd round.

Garner 20m: 3.18s
Agility: 8.85s
Yo-Yo: 21.2
2km: DNT

Surely by now you got a read on who eagles think will be available?

Sounds like maybe they just don’t know who will fall into their lap with the lucky 13.

Still hearing at the moment that Oscar Allen will be the Eagles selection at Pick 13.

Bish, you got a feel for who Richmond likes best out of Brander, Balta, Allen and Hayes? What order would they have them?

Not really just yet- but I don't think they could lose with any. Do think Brander & Allen are off the board. So think Balta/Hayes/Naish are good chance to end up their 3 picks in that 17-25 range.

Upside.. hard to determine ... would we have said similar thing about SPP? Any idea on Parfitt's numbers for last year... 3.18 seems a tad off the pace but game speed is different to combine

SPP was a different issue - was more his clanger count/decision making/kicking. Can get away with it as a HFF.

Parfitt was a 3.03 I think - but i'd need to check. Pretty sure he was sub 3seconds coming into his draft year, but it went down.

I've posted a few more videos of Cerra and Dow on my channel/ twitter.

As for Bonar, I'm still trying to source footage from what's available.

Still just don't get it with Cerra.

It may be he's showing more outside of what I've seen but every single highlights package he seems to miss easy targets by hand and foot and looks more like a link-man than a pure clearance player.

I'm sure he'll end up a decent player, but there seems to be far more upside in LDU, Rayner, Dow and quite a few others (Brayshaw, Fogarty come to mind).

I want to like the bloke as SOS is apparently a big fan, but just a bit middling from what I've seen.

Can you shed any light Bishop?

Cerra is a star - the man I think who would be the clear No.1 if not for his injuries throughout the season.

Is a classy right foot kick - kicking efficiency % is "low" but that's not helped by a wet day out at Preston where he kicked at about 15% because he pretty much only kicked on his left foot the whole game.

He weaves through the packs, very agile - can play as an outside/inside midfielder (balanced mid). Clearance numbers are pretty good. Need to remember in the U18 Champs he carried a few niggles and was used across HBF in some games - due to a knee knock.

Thanks for your insight.

I'm hoping what I've seen so far has just been his base-level :thumbsu:

Seriously, you’re not putting his low kicking percentage down to one single wet game are you?

Pretty sure most others have had to play in crappy conditions in 2017 and not hit targets as regularly as would be the norm.

Frankly, playing more off HB should enable a player to get a HIGHER kicking efficiency IMO as there’s more kicks as run-receive or breaking out to the open side as opposed to pressured kicks from contested situations between the arcs.

Bishop what do you think about Lions taking Brayshaw at 1, I think he probs has the potential to be the best player in the draft though hasn't had the best junior career, leadership skills included and potentially limited go home factor if we also draft his brother

Anybody got a link to the all star game?? Highlights are nice but seeing the players warts and all is the key.

I wouldn't take him at 1. I have the others ranked above him for good reason. I can't see the Lions taking him at 1.

Bishop just wondering if you’ve got any goss regarding who the Saints are interviewing/showing the most interest in at 7/8?

Also what is your prediction for 7/8?

I’m hoping for Brayshaw/Fogerty.
This was his response to this question a few days ago:
Coffield/Brayshaw/Bonar/Clark/Stephenson I've all heard in the mix.

He also hadn't heard of us being linked to D-Fog at that time.

Hey Bish, a couple of questions, firstly im hearing the tigs are seriously into Noah Balta, but I'd be suprised if he slipped that far would you be happy with that? Second do you think Brent Daniels will be available at 30? I'm starting to hope my blues go that way if he's availyable. Last what do you make of martini from S.A? Every time I watch him play his competitiveness and decision making jump off the field, don't think he's a top prospect, but seems like he'll develop into a nice small defender type.

Cheers mate.

Stephenson & Brayshaw it is, if the no interest in DFog is true.

Be very happy with that combo. Both bringing very good run and ball-winning ability to the table, with Brayshaw being the "quiet achiever", who just consistently gets the job done each week, and JS being the flashier one, with more "wow" and "WTF!?" moments!
