What are you hearing on the rumour Shipley has been invited to the draft?

That GWS plan to match a bid for Shipley and would like him at the draft for photo ops, etc. Match like how Jacob Allison (Lions) and Brad Scheer (Gold Coast) were at the draft last year.

Word on the street is that Carlton will bid on him at 10 to try and get him now, rather in two years time.

I suppose it's possible but generally they only tend to invite the players they think will go top 10. If some club bids on Shipley in the 20s and GWS match it i wouldn't have thought they would be inviting him.

He'll have his input - from what I'm told he's one of the coaches who keeps on top of it. Of course Conole + co have the final say, but there's definitely cases where the coach will be involved in the decision.

I'd imagine some coaches and some more than others, may well exert influence upon their Recruitment team, but what do you think of Luke Hodge being asked his opinion, if indeed he has been. Good idea or bad idea?

I don't particularly like the idea and especially so given Hodge has hardly even walked through the doors there.
The idea just seems to have more potential negatives attached than for any real positives.

Dayne Beams sat through all the interviews down at the draft combine, as he has expressed an interest in recruiting once he retires from playing. In saying that, the reported Hodge input is probably more club PR than anything else.

Not rumour - is fact.

It's not to do with a bid coming in - but an AFL NSW-ACT invite. Local boy/media etc.

Got to see both Brayshaw and LDU at Simonds... that would have been handy viewing for him.

Helped that Brayshaw played a blinder in that game aswell, couldnt count the amount of times he was sent back after trying to come off with their rotations buggered with Constables early injury. Was an inspiring performance to work his ass off and keep hitting in hard and running to link up.

Probably will take the best available regardless of who they are. I can't see either being there at #17 though.

Balta should be there at 20, as would Sam Hayes.
