bitcoin is a pretty stupid thing to get into for an "investment". and unless you're into child pr0n, weapons or drugs, it makes a pretty awful alternative currency.

Bump. BTC currently sitting at around $400 and Ripple Coin has spiked to $0.006099 on the back of some good news from Microsoft.
My current holdings are 0.33 Bitcoin and 160,000 XRP. Will be adding to this significantly in Q1 of 2016 when Cryptsy eventually goes bust and this brings the price of BTC down a notch.

BTC currently trading at $430. I'm tipping an end of year price of $550.
XRP currently trading at $0.006009. I'm tipping an end of year price of $0.01.
Either this will be right in which case I will look like a genius or it will be too high/low in which case I will look like a fool.

Bitcoin (BTC) going through what is basically a civil war where it looks like it will split into two or three different coins. Needless to say this is totally killing the BTC community and driving the price down significantly.

Ripple (XRP) has finally hit 0.1 as a result of this.

Newcomer-ish ETH has shot to prominence over the last year. Naturally I sold all mine at the $11 mark because I needed the cash for something else and now it's hitting $48 a month later.

Predictions for the year end:
BTC - $550
Ripple 0.2
ETH $65

Ripple (XRP) has doubled in the last 24 hours to 2 cents on the news that Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ has been added to the list of banks using Ripple.

There's also rumours of a lock up as well which are contributing to the price as well as the newly released v0.60 which allows for lockups and more functionality for smart contracts.

While 2 cents may seem expensive get in now because this is cheap compared to where it will be in 12 months.

What site do you use to buy XRP?

What site do you use to buy XRP?

First I buy bitcoins on localbitcoins.com. This may be a pain in the arse for Aussie accounts as transfers are typically done overnight whereas they are instant in the UK so if you have a better way of buying bitcoin go for it.

Then use shapeshift.io (instant, no registration required) to convert the BTC to XRP. If shapeshift.io isn't offering XRP at the time you can use either poloniex.com or Gatehub.com to do so, though both require registration, documents etc.

I keep my coins in a cold wallet created here rather than on an exchange so there's no chance of MTGOX style crashes where you lose your money. Don't try and day trade on Poloenix as there's so much insider trading and collusion it's not funny so the odds are stacked against you. Buy and hold is the way to go.

Obviously it goes without saying do your own research etc. but if you have any further questions feel free to let me know!

Rhetoric? Why do you think libertarians love crypto currencies so much? It's decentralised and governments can't stick their noses in so easily.

So's a cash economy but that doesn't mean we should get rid of cash.

Ripple (XRP) is fully centralised and regulated crypto which is why it's being picked up by major banks for implementation. There's also a number of other cryptos that are similarly compliant.

Ripple is now sitting steady at $0.054, up from $0.007 at the start of the year. There's still time to get in before this thing really takes off and becomes enormous over the next 24 months.

If you bought say $5,000 worth of XRP, would would you be expecting in 2 years time, and how do you get that back into real money? Sorry maybe a dumb question but I know nothing about this and even 20 minutes research has only just made it more confusing.

I would have said 6 months ago that XRP would be at 5 cents in two years time but it's already surpassed that. Obviously it's my opinion only but I would say 20-25 cents (4-5x return) inside two years. Gatehub allows you to send Euro and purchase XRP directly after going through some basic KYC verification. Likewise you can then convert it back to EUR and withdraw via Gatehub. The support team is also super helpful as well. Feel free to PM me if you get stuck or have any more questions!

Ripple is going off. Made 9x my money in five weeks. WTF?

It's been overdue for some time to spike in price but I never expected it to gain this much traction. Thank god I picked up 90% of mine in the .005-.007 range cent when it was 15 times cheaper.

Ripple now sitting at 0.178.

That really sucks. I've had trouble purchasing it (waiting on a reply from them about validating my phone number).

Would've bought some on Friday if that hadn't happened.

18 cents may be a fraction high for the moment but it's still super cheap in the long run. Think Bitcoin in 2013 when it went from $30 to $1250, that's what the potential is here.
