I'm from Kangarilla so I always check that section of the Footy scores and have noticed these scores.... most times I have to do a double take.... I then realise ohh It's Callington should have known!

good day to be a time keeper. every qtr might have went an hour long

I have a couple of mates who played in that game (for Primrose, the losing side).
They say the last quarter went for nearly an hour, Campbells Creek scored about 40 goals in the quarter and everyone was barracking for them to make it to 100 goals. Finally, in near darkness, they scored the 100th and the siren went immediately.
Sounds like the time-keepers may have been caught up in the moment!

that's terrible. geez 20 plus time on should only go 30 minutes and a bit.

Nothing like the good old days.....

Like the 1977 Carlton v Geelong game at Princes Park, where the final scores were

Carlton 3.13.31
Geelong 2.12.24

Geelong kicked three quarters of its score in the final stanza.

Or a 1989 Essendon v Footscray clash at Windy Hill (that i'm sure a few people here attended)...

Essendon 3.10.28
Footscray 3.5.23

Essendon didn't kick a goal after half time and still won!!!

What is even stranger is that in the corresponding game later that year at the Western Oval, Footscray again kicked only 3.5 for the day, however Essendon made improvements by finishing with 7.9

Having said that, it was 2.7 to 2.4 at three quarter time.

So in 7 quarters of footy between the two teams, they piled on a massive 10.26. Thats barely one goal per quarter between them.

I was looking through SYdney Junior football results after last years finals.

A team went underfeated in the H&A season

then lost the semi final by 1 point
then lost the prelimenary final by 1 point

Would be shocking if the same thing happened to the Saints this year. :p

Almost positive that there was a womens football game played in Darwin not long ago where the final scores were: 0.1 (1) to 0.1 (1).

Fitzroy ARE very good JD... especially at youth level - there are a LOT of kids wanting to play for the Roys again...

This thread makes me feel a little uneasy.

I always tend to feel really sorry for the players of teams that get totally smashed, especially in the country leagues. And some of these scores are really depressing.

Imagine how you'd be feeling if you played in a team that had 85 or 100 goals kicked against them. Feeling great about yourself.

Wouldn't happen in Tassie. ;)

We have a 10-goal rule in our country leagues.

...

...if you're 10 goals down at any time - the game's over and it's who makes the most hits. The opposition soon stops.

...if an opponent looks like getting 10 goals in the game - everyone mans up on him and beats the hell out of him if he even looks at the ball....

I've been on either end of 100 point beltings...and neither are particular enjoyable.

Playing wise, games that go either way less than a goal are most enjoyable (of course wins more so afterwards).

It does raise the point about some sort of Mercy rule at Junior level.

Brings to mind my 11 yr old daughters Netball game a couple of weeks ago. At half-time the score was 20-0 (ie. our team in front).

The ref then went over to the coach of our team (one of the Mums) and requested for the 2nd half that the other team get given all the Centre throws after a goal to even it up a bit - our coach refused !

We were all disgusted, the ref couldn't believe it and needless to say we soon 'convinced' her to change her mind.

The coach is one those Mums who really pushes her kid and its all win, win, win.
