Black Magic: The best Aboriginal 18 of all time:

Winston Abraham had most of them covered.

Absolute rubbish.

Darryl White has Ryder covered. Was a very good footballer.

Darryl has had an excellent career, it's true...But lets get serious here.....He was a bottom 6 player, whereas Ryder was a Top 6 player in his prime.

Good team/role player was Darryl, in a star-studded outfit....But he's not even making Brissy's best 22, let alone the indigenous All-Time one.

Betts and Rioli don't get in front of Graham
You never saw him play you haven't even heard of him so what are you basing it on
Bias

Well he never played at the highest level....So there's that.

Also...You're the only poster in this thread Who seems to be aware of him & arguing for him....That's point 2.

Betts has played over 300 AFL games & Sizzle is a 4 time Premiership playing NS Medalist....So there's that.

One would think you're a relative of the man himself the way you're going about this.

Well I've seen him play unlike you
He played at the highest level
There was no AFL in his time
Premierships are team not personal achievements
Only one on here who's heard of him and must be a relative
Top notch argument there
Making a judgement on a player you have never heard of
Again you have no basis whatsoever
For your position

That makes 2 of you who now vouch for him.....I await the flood in earnest.
This comment just proves your ignorance and immaturity
Some obscure thread on social media is your backup to a member of the indigineous team of the century that tens of thousands saw play and the selectors saw fit to pick
Go Melbourne suburban boy

'One of the greatest players of any background'....That was the quote I was replying to....For a player named last on the bench for an indigenous all stars team from 15 years ago.....

Perspective & context are not your strong suites.

No his comments implied that Grahams ability was not defined by his aboriginal status and that this brilliance negated any comment you made based on limiting judgement of him thus and therefore his presence in this team and your insistence that he didn't deserve recognition based on the fact that you have never heard of him
It would appear you're the one who struggles with context
Stick to the juvenile rhetorical retorts

The only context we are operating here is an indigenous one brother.....Check the thread heading topic.....See my point about context yet?

Graham has never been named in any other greatest side I'm aware of....Perhaps Sturt, but clearly that's your neck of the woods....So that would be germane to my point about perspective!

Now....As to the possibility of his inclusion in my best 22 here?.....Not going to happen....Especially when he only made the bench some 15 years ago & in spite of your best efforts to the contrary....Which I must say; Have been most enjoyable & insistent.....At the very least I'm now very much aware of him....So kudos you.

Getting upset are we?
Trying to back up your ignorance and bias by using context and perspective in word only and confusing the fact that they don't actually exist in your argument
You resorted to them when your whole argument was basically destroyed and handed back to you hence your last meandering response
......neck of the woods
......kudos to you
Correct. Explore these statements further before you embark on an exercise you are not qualified for
Never heard of him or seen him play
Not gonna make my side
And this a name not pulled out of thin air but a name officially recognised
Yeah right show us how self important you are

I enjoy your passion, but I'm afraid I remain steadfastly unmoved by your pleas for Graham's inclusion here.....Aint gonna happen.

O.K you think I'm ignorant...Fair enough....You've made that point several times now.

I'm not self-important, this is a thread created by me....Like I said earlier....If you are so passionate about it, then start a thread of your own....I'm sure plenty of Croweaters will hop on board that train.

5 pages & 120 posts in, & you're the first poster who has mentioned him to my knowledge....I think that says enough.

Rubbish, he's up there for sure, played during the VFL redneck era, came down to Adelaide from St Marys, their team of the century would be worth a look.
In the AFL Team of the Century.
How much research into the subject did you do?
How does your team compare?

I reckon this side is streets ahead of the 2005 one....It has all of Buddy, Cyril, Betts & Silk added to it for starters.....That's a huge improvement.

As stipulated in the O/P.....Suggestions, arguments for & nominations are welcome to aid & assist me in this endeavour.....Not sure what the point of any malice is directed against that.

Wasnt meant as malice, just questioning your conclusions?
Staggered that you seem to limit yourself to players you've seen but want a best ever team. Did you look at the Team of the Century? Do you even know of most of the players? You must to claim it trumps the 2005 side.

Are you saying Eddie is the best ever indigenous small forward? He's one of the best, but the best? What do the stats say in the current era v say Jeff Farmer ?

Betts has kicked 600 goals as a small forward specialist from 313 games at the highest level...Farmer has 483 goals from 249 games....They're both in the team.

As to Graham....I grew up following footy in the 70's & can honestly say that I don't recall ever hearing his name mentioned as a highly sought after player by any Victorian clubs....Whereas Stephen Michael's name was an end of season staple, every year.

Having spent a couple of years in Adelaide in the late 70s I can assure you he deserves to be in contention.
For me the Team of the Century squad is an important point of reference.

The Territory has produced some marvellous players, though it's the least populated region.

Neither Polly Farmer or Barry Cable played in Victoria for long....But if you go back & take a look at their records over in W/A, they're absolutely phenomenal in terms of length & achievements.....Both also played in Premierships during their short stints in the VFL & were significant factors in those.

My old man was from SA and the family over there were mostly Sturt. I can certainly recall them talking about ‘Flash’.

Certainly aptly named....That ball-drop of his on the bounce is just so unorthodox....Little wonder he lost the handle on it.

Shane Edwards

You need to be elite to get in this team....Edwards merely skirts the edges of Elite....A very good player at his peak currently, in a highly disciplined side.

And don't bring up his AA last year....That was as much a liberal pc charity joke, as Houli's was this year.

I mean...Tommy Hawkins even got one.....Strike me down.
