I have a bottle of French champagne, Veuve Clicquot no less, ready to celebrate the announcement of Blacky's captaincy.

And I can't let a new year go by without another pic of Blacky (round 3, 2006 - go away Dal Santo).

As mentioned on another thread on 8 December 2006...

What Vossy said

...
Voss has felt "not a single flicker" of regret since retiring and considers Jonathan Brown his obvious replacement as captain, but said Simon Black's leadership potential had grown dramatically in the past year.

"Browny would be the first to admit he's got a lot to learn about that side of things, but sometimes you don't learn until you get in there and do it and he's just got the presence and the natural leadership capabilities," he said.

"He'd be great, but I wouldn't underestimate Simon Black. Where he's come from in the last 12 months has been quite exceptional. He's elevated himself from thinking about his own game — not in a selfish manner — but he's beginning to think of people around him.

"Off the field he's always been like that, but in games he's beginning to organise people and put things in place and that's something he hadn't done before. He's really taken that on board and that's what I mean by thinking outside yourself — he's evolved in that way, that's a great thing and that's why I wouldn't discount him."

 NOOOooo.... I am turning into you and Warwick... :D

Actually I do have a bottle. It's been sitting around for over a year waiting for a special occasion... birthday? nah; Christmas? wasted; New Year? nup;

The most exciting event coming up that I can think of, is the announcement of Simon's captaincy.

Hey, I've got a couple of bottles of that sitting in the cupboard at home given to us as present. Good is it?

Yep, very good. You have very generous friends.

I prefer Taittinger though. Bollinger is not to my taste. As for Moet et Chandon, it's way over-rated.

Piper Heidsieck is not a bad drop either.

You going to open your Veuve Clicquots when Simon is announced as captain?

im not much of a wine drinker

I like my mixed spirits and liqures myself

Theve released a Baily's with a hint of Mint Chocolate - cant wait to try it :)

Toasting Blacky's captaincy is as good a reason as any...
