Hes still a reasonable back up. Which we don't have much of.
we don't have much midfield back up because we don't draft any mids.

Which he will. We just haven't moved him back on the website. People panicked last year for the same reasons.
and then Petterd was upgraded

Knowing these aren't the final delistings and the final cull is still to come.. what are peoples thoughts on Arnot as a tagger if he is kept on?
Some people might say he has no tank but I don't believe that to be true, he is actually a rather fit person. He tries his heart out which is why he looks cooked most times, doesn't put a half assed effort like Grigg. I feel his trouble when he steps up to AFL is finding the ball when he is in the middle. Seems a little lost at stoppages. He could be a player that thrives on that run with role?

Thoughts?
Arnot our Mcaffer?

Rather close the gap between the 3 and the rest rather than keep it as it is.
I would love WHE but not at the expense of Ellis who just got named in the AA squad. Ellis is the guy we rely on to relieve pressure and we need another like him which is why I'd like Cavka. Pick 11 on top is just over kill.

That's the point though, we can't afford to pay this kind if price yet, we don't have the depth to sacrifice two first round picks for one bloke
Well technically Ellis was a 2nd rnd pick if all being equal.:D
Understand where your coming from but thats something GWS would want for WHE.
I'd do it.But thats me.lol

Not including Riewoldt he is the only player on our list that has kicked 35+ goals in a season.

Was on target for 40 this year if he played every game.

And you do realise if we get rid of him our ruck stocks are Maric & Hampson?

Agile 200 cm blokes don't grow on trees and it is common knowledge they take longer to develop. Are we really willing to risk throwing him away now after putting in 6 years of development?
Look I think we'll keep him and that's fine, all I'm trying to say is that he has currency... and if we want to attract a star and or better picks we need to give up something decent.. to me he's seems that one that might get us something decent that we can afford to let go.

Just on that.
This morning I spoke to a bloke that's pretty heavily involved with Melbourne.
He said that it's crap and that Melbourne and Clark have been in regular contact and even that Melbourne have been keeping him fit through their fitness advisors.
Be interesting to see what happens.
I've heard the same. Melbourne were pretty confident he would be on there list next year. But a week or two ago he basically said he does not want to be at Melbourne as he has better options in Melbourne.

Roos was fuming (needed some meditation time with the wife ;)). They will trade him but do not expect them to make it easy for Clark.

You would of hoped so with regard to Foley but Craig Cameron messed up a lot of our contracts, i've heard from a few people its a good contract for Nathan a bad one for us.

Its not just lids its anyone who is signed on past next year. You could pay Jack most of his three years this year and next and not pay him much in 2016 knowing he'll be a vet by then. If we've got 500k in the cap this season we'd be stupid not to pay that to any player to get it off our books for next year which creates more space for next season to pay even more guys front ended.

Our cap has been cleared deliberately for a big signing since Dan came on board because Cameron couldn't do it. Whether we make the signing or not is another question but the word has been around all year that we have big space in our cap.
Spot on. I heard from someone who would know, foley was on close to what lids is on. You got to remember when we resigned him, all thought he was due for a huge lift as he was tracking way up wards. Its like if Miles has another great year and we resign him early, then he has major leg issues. We do have salary cap space now that wont effect us next year signing martin, lids and co. We are in a lot better place salary wise, thanks to Dan.

Myself, I would be aggressive. I would go to Shiel and GWS and offer our First round and a player like Batch or Mcdonough for him. Its a bit overs but a win/win for both clubs.

I'd imagine one or two might be asked about staying on in the VFL side. Bender, O'Hanlon, Big O...
It would be good to keep Stephenson and Edwards on for the VFL.
Edwards is good mates with Dusty as well.
Wouldn't mind seeing this.

Hopefully the club has been up-front and respectful with the delisted blokes, so there's no hard feelings. Then, if they don't get a better offer, we can keep them on at VFL level. There's not one of the delisted players that I want frog-marched out of Punt Road Oval.

It's a clause in the AFL Collective Bargaining Agreement that a player can not be traded within 12 months of a new contract, unless extenuating circumstances exist as approved by the AFL General Manager Football Operations

dude, face facts, if the club & or Ty wanted it to happen it would happen, without the stupid approval of AFL GNFO.....I mean come on dude you are smarter than that. Lets see, how do you gtet what you want without looking like you wanted it, I know, a couple of nights on the piss(or lets just call it a reference to a couple of nights on the piss), that defies strict club rules, gets a warning and then follow it up with another night on the piss and there you have it, case closed. Ty comes out and says I want to go there, club he nominates gives us the pick or picks we were going to get in the trade and we hand then pick 87 and 43 and we are done. AFL general operations manager sits there sucking his thumb, getting paid to look important ;)
