Surprised we announced today - just 2 days after Sundays mess...
Papers were obviously stamped and in footy managers and coaches back pockets. (Who tells the players anyway?)

Hard to disagree with any of those but surprised Thomas is still on deck.
Not sure if his lack of pace and nous offers anything moving forward.

Not our club, but on AW they were discussing this with Ratten and he and Matthews both said it comes from the coach. Said the job sucks, but its best being direct and the player deserves to hear it from them

Fair enough I guess - tough meetings those I would imagine.

Whether it's maturity or the confidence he gained from securing a long term deal with Port, or simply a change of scenery he is definitely playing better football this year. I agree with you though. I put him in the Jay Schultz bracket - had he stayed at Tigerland it just would have been more of the same.
Yep. That's the sort of point I'm getting at.

Nobody doubts that Schultz is playing great football, and people have quite rightly pointed out just how good Schultz would be in our forward line, but the fact is that Schultz was not performing at Richmond.

Actually, I've heard Schultz say that it took the change in club for him to wake up to himself and start making something of his abilities.

I'm not saying White wasn't trying at Richmond, just making the point that for a whole host of reasons players don't perform at a club and it takes a change to bring them on.

I think he's more referring to the rose colored glasses people wear for the kid

They bitched about him being in and out of games when on our list, but now he's an elite midfielder (apparently)

This is despite the fact Rodney has shown on more than one occasion his stats between this season and last ain't that different. Also he is still used a lot as the sub.
Yeah it pisses me off seeing Richmond supporters talk about how good Matt White is while constantly bagging our own players.

Matty only had one decent season for us.

Vickery, Thomas and Batchelor don't deserve all the criticism they get.

Thanks for answering my original question. I was literally unaware of the circumstances surrounding his departure and thought we just let him go no fuss.

Still love seeing players who support the club beforehand be successful, I guess that's why I rate White.
No worries Mate.No malice towards White,Did whats best for him and his family.
