His first year was a write off though yeah? Wouldn't be the first player to need a couple of years development, Lennon is the same for us
Played his most AFL games in his first season (12), played 19 games in total when including VFL games. Then played 20 games in second year with (8 AFL games). But only the two AFL games this year as sub, seems like he might be getting some games now though with Broomhead injury.

Must be thinking of someone else then

Currently watching a GWS reserves game and so far I've counted a six first rounder players with those going at picks 2, 3, 4, 4, 9 and 10, whilst I've noticed a couple of others missing who would normally play (Marchbank and Ahern). Unbelievable how much they were given when entering the league.

To put this into some perspective Richmond have only 6 top 10 selections on our list.

Deledio #1.
Cotchin #2.
Martin #3.
Vickery # 8.
Conca # 6.
Vlastuin # 9.

Yeah but they overlooked Ellis 11 times in a single draft. I'm one of the few who think their current ceiling is 5-7th. Defenders are ordinary and it's Cameron or bust

Why Kelly isn't playing most weeks is beyond me.

Already addressed that

You honestly believe all that conditioning he had built up was maintained after he spent weeks recovering from the barb through the foot?

Look at the game averages he has played, after his first year only 25% of possible afl games, and barely over half of possible vfl/afl games

People are kidding themselves if they think anyone wanting to trade for him will not attach a big risk discount to his price

Again, he is worth more to us on our list than on the trade table
I was on your side with the theory that Dave is more value to us on the list v trade table until someone mentioned on the trade thread that he's on $300k. I had to change my line of thinking in terms of needs v luxuries and cap space.

There defence is strong... Davis Patfull Haynes Shaw is a pretty strong core 4.

I think their ceiling is a little higher but I am not arguing with a lot of your content. I think the 2 new draftees will help but I agree, they lack in some areas

The thing is, with that quantity of talent hoarded away, they'll easily have the currency to trade for needs once they've been identified.

Their concessions have been absolutely unbelievable. Credit to them for making full use of it I spose.

$300k is only a touch above average wage for an AFL player, including 1st year players & rookies.

Rather than Treloar...my tact would be to throw some money at Kelly. Kid will be a jet!

no its not.
the afl average was a tad below $260k last year

rookies are still on peanuts in comparison
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/rookies-in-pay-push-20110714-1hg2g.html .they are on about $100k now is what ive read on here.
Either way i would put Dave's 300k on a need player imo

Any West Coast players worth mentioning?

The way they are playing at the moment surely finances/game time/wanting to come to a Melbourne based club could be reasons to get somebody decent.
