Bastinac is a good player. Probably B grade if Roo's fans were honest and probably unlikely to be an A grader unless he stops squibbing contests and wins more of his own ball. I think he's wasted on the wing but he just doesn't seem to impact in the contest. To me he's not the type we'd target as a priority as we have our own B grade mids in Grigg. We are obviously better off playing a rookie instead of trading for a guy like this, less cap space and we get to keep our pick.

He's worth a second rounder if he wanted to move though. You know what your getting and he's the level of talent you'd be happy with from your second round picks. Just not for us, unless we felt we could get him back to his junior days and playing more on ball.

I remember him being more outside. Thing is he looks like a hard nut but plays a bit of a nothing role at times, at others he can look a gun. Who was that Roo fan, he'd have watched him a lot more as my interest in him ran out after draft night.

Seems like it was more that the club are willing to give long term contracts to the key players, rather than rule them out entirely, not that they are just handing them out to anyone.

I don't want to make it too obvious .. but the player in question was drafted last year and has a brother who plays at St Kilda
