What would we give up for him? Would Freo demand a first rounder? I'd assume they would because he hasn't debuted yet so hasn't necessarily done anything to harm his reputation.
wpuld just be 1st rounder for Weller , Cant see anything els unless they are into one of ours

I haven't looked forward to a trade and free agency period this much in a long time.
We only have 1 first round pick, so it will be interesting just how many of these deals we can get done and who we prioritise landing
Motlop, Treloar & Weller will probably all need to use that 1st round pick, unless we are willing to let go of some decent players

That's true, can probably only get one of them, unless future picks trading comes in.

I don't know why but don't like the idea of trading future picks even though it will probably be brought in. I think its because clubs would be trading these picks which could potentially be top 10 picks and you trade it thinking you'll finish higher than you actually do.

Ok maybe its not THAT unbelievable - but its just caught me by suprise.

Richmond are going pretty hard behind the scenes at a certain Fremantle recent draftee who whos is having trouble adjusting to life in Perth and is looking to possibly be another James Aish situation.

I don't want to make it too obvious .. but the player in question was drafted last year and has a brother who plays at St Kilda ;)

Tigers confident.
Ha ha, its not so unbelievable as talking to a GWS poster on a thread about Freo interest in MCarthy and GWS need for a draft pick in the recent past the scenario was thrown up among others.

Might suit all.

From my point of view is at least it is not expensive and will not take big salary caps, will shut a few up arguing a few areas plus supposedly he can assist in the midfield so if helpseveryone so be it .

Than again it might be bs.

He is young and just have to trust the recruiters judgement on this i guess to make the best call

In the U.S. they have protection in place so that if the pick comes before a certain cut-off, it's not traded (for a limited period, say the next 2-3 years, then it's gone). E.g. We trade our first pick next year, but it's top-10 protected. So if we get pick 11, it's traded, if we get pick 9 we keep it and our first pick the following year is the one traded - unless the protection is for 2 years and it's another top-10. But then the year after, when the protection is gone, the other team gets our pick even if it's #1.

Of course, it's the AFL, so they'll find a way to **** it up.

Surely is going to happen with the bidding process that father/sons and academy selections will now be subject to.

Place protection on them. Simple.

at our selection last year, it was between ellis/weller

duggan/ahern were gone
We always were going to take Ellis( considering the other 2 were taken) as he was ahead of Weller in our eyes, which was our top 3 we liked, at our pick. Pretty sure we would've taken Ellis even if Duggan was still on the board.

So say Carlton finish last this year and trade their first pick next year to the Suns for Ablett (know this wouldn't happen but just for argument's sake). The next 2 years they finish last so the Suns can't access the picks, but the third year they finish 1st and have Pick 18. Does that mean the Blues end up trading Pick 18 for Ablett?

We must rate him higher than our predicted first rounder this year then assuming C4's info is solid. Interesting.
The info I know is solid, because its the same person who has given me all of my info at the club.

Whether it works out for Richmond or not (i.e whether Freo are interested in dealing this early) is a seperate issue, but I can guarantee its in the works at the club.

I know it sounds as if Im having a bet each way, but Ive been a contributer on this 'rival' board for a while now and hopefully I have enough credits in the bank so that you all don't run me out of town :)

Like I said, could be real based on a past GWS posters stated Freo interest in a GWS player and GWS interest in draft pics for their zone players plus cap relief

You definitely don't need to prove yourself, we know the stuff you've posted before has been solid
