Haha

Want to trade ?

We will give you Tiger71 and a handful of teeth and all you have to give us is a promise you won't let him leave.
You are dead to me :(

I though we had a thing, a vibe

Wasn't tiger71 was it?
No it was not. Always been clear. We had interest, it progressed but the main weakness was dealing with the blues. Is it dead in the water ? who knows, it can happen if they become realistic. What I was right about is that we would never trade our first pick, so it was always a uphill battle.

Scoop McClure on AW said he wont be at the Tiges as the blues are asking to much
McClure says a lot of things, I dont think its as closed off as that.

we should get like 10 people to ring in and have a go at him over the same thing.
Don't tell the receptionist what your topic is because they won't let you on. I called before 9am to talk to Tim Watson - about the rubbish he and Carey serve up on Talking Footy but was told I couldn't speak on that topic.

People need to accept we are a tight arse club that will only trade value. All this talk of us being after danger motlop treloar is a myth imho . All we are trying to do is squeeze out some other players that will be cheap as chips to play a role we have in mind for them

Can't see how this will be any different this year.

Also you can't say that this system has not been successful as we have retained our picks to bring in

Carlton are just hoping we will blink first. They of all clubs should know that once we set a value on something we don't change.

I reckon SOS maybe the problem in the long run. He is used to being a position of strength at GWS and even his career. Get a funny feeling he'll be the new Dodoro, also think his mistakes at GWS were skipped over cos he got so many chances.

All the noise from anyone remotely connected to the club is that we're willing to trade picks this year. And I don't buy that that's our tac every year... We went after Trengove, Armitage, Hannebury and even Fyfe last year.

And got none.

Why will this year be different?

The same people are involved .

I'm going to have to look this character up
Be aware if you find yourself dragged into the vortex of circular conversations with him, most of us on this board will just see you having a conversation with yourself and assume you have more screws loose the average pies fan.

The big difference is we are becoming an off field force and have had 2.5 strong seasons.

Not saying we will get anyone either as your right we don't pay inflated prices but we are more attractive and we have a good reputation of paying fair value and accepting fair value.

We roled that way for a few seasons so when the right time came we could go for a big get. We've brought in a bunch of young talent, we've lost no one, we've paid over for no one (cash wise, well maybe a little for Chaplin).
We should have some cap space, we dont need to draft in this week draft. Its time.

Thats spot on. We have been more active, thats true and credit to the club for that BUT are we aggressive enough ? That is my concern. blaisee is right in that regard. The people that control our club perfer sustained sucess and we modeled ourselves to grow our own. This off season will be different in the regards to our CEO openly acknowledging and even our coach that we will be active to bring in talent.

I have some faith they can do that.

yep all those things are true.

But our list and football managers cant/wont pay the price.

This may be strategic, may not be. To be honest I am not sure

yep reckon theres comes a time if we want the guns of the comp then we have to pay overs to get them, can't just expect to pay them 20-50 k more and have them move clubs for that . We've been talking up this war chest for two years and we really have not landed a gun player since Nathan Brown.

TBH I have no problem with that either as I reckon of all the FAs and trades last few years the over inflated prices, outside betts, have hampered teams.

Goddard - obviously problems at essendon but he is a shocking leader for the club and not worth 7-800k

Thomas injured

Greenwood not worth 450k

Adams might be worth 420k one day but not right now.

clark and Stanley failures at cats

Frawley might come good and their team is so good you can hide him. But 550k is overs

Beams is a gun but Brissy way over paid in terms of trade even before crisp's season. They were desperate to rocket up ladder and it backfired.

Wouldn't be the worst thing if we ended up having a quiet trade period.

Would mean we keep our future picks that might have more value next season, especially if clubs go crazy with the trading of future picks this off season thus enabling us potentially a free run at a gun coming out of contract or wanting to return home next year.

The advantage we have that most clubs around us don't have is we have barely seen what the likes of Lennon, Ellis, McBean and Menadue are capable of and they could explode with a huge preseason. Beyond those guys we also have Griffiths and Astbury who are now at the 50 game mark and could yet become the players we hope we turn out for them to be, although their time is running out and they could be potential trade bait.

I personally don't reckon our list is quite there yet, said it earlier in the year 2 more gun mids, desperately in need of a crumming forward/ or HFF to try kick 40-50 goals and another good KPD. If We have the cash to get the gun or two then we should use it.

He does, but he gets a hell of a lot correct. Im on board with him on this.
Like Cooney to Norf? Or Malceski to the Dees? And he had a player going to victory (can't remember the name) who never came close.

The guy has a great habit of spraying a lot out and hoping it will stick then making you forget what he got wrong and see what he got right.
