You would be right in what gws want and what we would offer,Reading between the lines the last few days,Cloke should be put up for trade,Spewinburger(whatever his name is) i think the Pies will come to the party and get another 1st rounder to then trump us and give what gws are asking for.If they have been into Treloar like the reports are saying they have there is no way in hell let any chance of him slipping through their fingers.they will blink.
If they do blink then thats awesome. We have made them give away another top 10 pick as they wont make finals next year. It is a win/win. That SA kid looks to be re signing, so they cant use him to get Aish across either. If they want Treloar they will have to sacrifice two first rounders. We are more advanced in our list build then they are, we can afford to offer two as it wont impact us as bad as we have a Ellis, Manadue, Butler etc already on our list, they dont.

Also its not like the Taylor Adams scenario, they dont have a Shaw to bump us out.

Just on this, its a good question.

Apparently and i have no reason to doubt it. The pies have been into Adam all year, multiple head office meetings with his manager, phone calls, secret meetings etc, bottom line they have gone hard, real hard. There one weakness, they did this prior to the news about trading future picks, once that go approved, and we were one of the main clubs actively wanting to push it through, things got turned on there head.

So we came into the picture with BANG 2 first rounder offer. That made KB go real early as most don't believe last week the pies would match it. That offer is workable for GWS and negotiations start. Adam will not **** GWS over. If he did, he is not the bloke we would want anyway. If the pies match that offer, he will go to them but if they dont, it leaves it open.

So its not like Adam wont come to us, its more that we were not in the frame prior till a month or so ago.
I would be very surprised if Treloar's decision had anything to do with the best trade offer for GWS. I dont believe that has impacted many if any players decision on where they want to go. Players looking to leave are doing it for themselves not their club. Especially not the club who isnt offering them what they believe they are worth.

Redden is a ******* average defensive run with mid. There was some hope when he first burst onto the scene that he and Rockliff were going to be part of the next fab four, but really he plays his best football running off an A grade mid, on his own he's a middle of the road player.

Not really mate.

You are and everyone is assuming he will nominate the pies over anyone else. Adam will go to the best club that will offer him the best deal, and best chance for success. period. Is that only the pies ? I would say No. Also those inside GWS are 100% confident that Adam will want them to get the best deal possible if it would mean that he will go to a club that will offer him those things.

Anyway, that's my take. he wont do a Griffen for example. Perfect recent example is Adams, It took Shaw to get it across the line, as that was the best for GWS.

Anyway, cant wait to see what happens :)

Food for thought ;
Dan Richardson is not a Dill and has experience in player management processes .
Blair Hartley has form on securing deals that were previously somewhat unknown .
It is in the clubs best interest to be linked to players on the market and ensure clubs pay overs to get or keep them .
Best post I've seen from you Roar
Have you been to any club or supporters functions where these guys have been present?
I've been to a few now and everyone, take a chill pill and trust Dan and Blair. And Benny and Francis too for that matter.
Trust me, they are all on the same page and they know exactly what they are doing to build a premiership winning side.
Last one I went to it was outlined to us what they saw the side still needed and imo, they were spot on. Believe me, we will target the right players and we will likely trade out of this draft to get what we need. But we won't overpay.
Very very impressive and smart operators working and running this key area of the Club.
Have faith and trust them. They've done pretty well so far!!

Don't believe all that you read or hear TOO
True,But i have stated in the past that i'm against the recruiting of Treloar on the basis of what we will pay contract wise considering what we offered the likes of Dusty and the reasoning behind it.
Sending the wrong and mixed message i think.

i dont think trelor will give a rats about what gws get, as you live and you learn your just a piece of a puzzle that would be scrapped if serious injury or poor form hit, just ask mathew egan of geelong, they encouraged him to get back for 2007 grand final and that finished his carreer at 24-25 years of age, cost him millions over next 5-8 years as assisstant coaches get 100-150 year, a far cry from an all austrlian centre half backs pay( harry taylor, alex rance 600-700 year), do the maths.

Well I will have to eat a poo if he goes there
That's not the first time is it, so its not as if its foreign to you?

Carlton wanted two packs of Samboy chips but we only offered one pack of salt and vinager.
Geez showing your age their mate!! Samboy's, Ollo's, Sunny boys etc were the staple diet of kids at school for me.

yep all those things are true.

But our list and football managers cant/wont pay the price.

This may be strategic, may not be. To be honest I am not sure
Imo there is not point in paying way overs in trade price or contract value if it pushes other players out. So while I think we are now in the right place to trade high picks, I also think its prudent to still have a ceiling on contract prices.

Thanks.

That is what has shit me about this and people coming out saying its done. They are going off old info. Now advanced picks are in the picture its a new ball game. Adam loves the GWS, has life long mates there. he is leaving as the offers in front of him are set up his life stuff. GWS understand that but dont want to be bent over, Adam does not want to bend them over. If the pies go in with there first and gwilt, adam wont be a pie, period.
Hey mate you have said Gwilt a few times, but he is at the dons, so who do you mean?

Has Collingwood actually matched our 2 first rounders?
Dont know.

What has been confirmed, and it could be the GWS CEO is a liar :drunk: One club, we dont know who, forced Adam to make a ultimatium to choose them or not, after the news of our offer broke, what Adam decided nobody knows unless your a pies fan lol

I heard that, didn't sound good and also coincided with word he has backfliped to us

Reckon the pies were dumb enough to pull that kind of stunt and its backfired?
