Monster FB/CHB: Carlisle (Chaplin does not hold up under finals pressure).
Ruckman: Smith from GC - Maric does not hold up under finals pressure he is too slow (I don't give a shit if he has a mullet and tries his heart out).
X-Factor: Yarran, Trelor, Dangerfield, just ONE of them but make it happen.

We need size, power, and speed with talent. I have said this all along... we don't have the players to cope with finals football. They are not built for it. The ones who perform are your power athletes (i.e. Stringer, Dangerfield, Tex, Hurn, Hutchings, Kennedy, Darling, Natanui, etc.). We have enough endurance but need power.

Kreuzer is over rated.
We should look at Smith, but more so Lycett.
He's got the potential to be a really dominant ruckman in the future and isn't getting game time.

Treloar would have been perfect, but we need another tough mid. We can't rely on Cotchin and Martin alone. Deledio is more of a forward these days. Miles has no experience and Grigg isn't a tough finals player. If we keep our first pick it has to be selected on an inside midfielder with a strong frame.

Surely with Newman, Knights, Foley and some more delistings a long the way we will have some room to target a strong mid. I'm talking of a body type like a Caddy or Dangerfield. Not Aish.

We lack some speed and need that X-factor Dash type. Hopefully Yarran can get his S*** together and provide this. Not even sure he's worth a second rounder at best. At the moment he certainly isn't.
Jarrod Redden fits your description.

Aish is the exact type we don't need.

My wishlist at the moment - suspect this will change in the coming days and weeks.

Really want:
  • Bennell - is a genuine A grader and would add another dynamic and quality player to our best 22. Has off field baggage but with Choco, KGI and the culture at the club, I think we could minimise the risk. Probably will require our first rounder. Would Griffiths be of any interest to them?
  • Yarran - was a bit lukewarm on him but have warmed up to him recently. He's a quality player but has consistency (and maybe attitude?) problems. Can be another genuine match winner when he's on. Again, I'd back the club to get the best out of him. Carlton probably want a first rounder but maybe we can barter them down with a pick/player.
  • One of Kreuzer or Leuy. I love Maric but I don't think he is the ruckman who'll take us to a premiership. Both Kreuzer and Leuy would probably be upgrades on Maric and as they are free agents, wouldn't need to give anything up. IF Griffiths was traded, Kreuzer in particular would be handy as he can play ruck/forward.

I'm just going to live here for the next few months.

Wouldn't trade Conca, wouldn't get much in return, and although he made some critical mistakes today it was because he had hardly played all year, selection mistake more than anything. Actually thought he came on and had an impact and showed he can have an impact next year.

Just bring in at least 2 quality players, please. Another inside mid would be nice too.
Agreed. I would probably put Griffiths in the same boat - though I would be open to trading him if if helped us land a Bennell for example.

Griff was also under done and another gamble that backfired. Was poor but I think the blame should be with the selection committee. If we got Kreuzer and traded Griffiths for a decent pick, I'd be pretty comfortable with that.

The problem with bringing in ruckman is, what do we do with Ivvy?

He's shown that he doesn't play well as a backup ruck or paired with someone else so what's the plan?

Abolishment of the sub rule next year will make it easier to play 2 rucks. Maric can sit at full forward for periods. Otherwise I'm sure he knows for the betterment of the club he may have to step down to first reserve.

VFL side.

The reality is Maric has become a liability and the signs have been there since the 2013 elimination final when Warknock was jumping all over him. Can't question his commitment but it is a cut throat business and Maric is holding us back. People talk of needing an big bodied inside mid well replacing Maric might kill two birds with one stone.

Agreed although the problem with Ivy is he just simply isn't good enough v the best ruckman. He's only going to decline from here on in too.

One of either Griffiths or McBean to go towards a trade for Redden, Aish, Bennell, Lycett, Yarran or other.
Other than those two, who else could we afford to give up (with value )?

We need to recruit blokes who can light up a finals game. Stevie J yesterday would have done just that. The 22 blokes who played yesterday shit themselves when it was their turn to stand up. It was a carbon copy of the Carlton game 2 years ago.

He's over the Fu$(;;Ng hill, it would be a mistake to go there IMO

Are you basing this on his age?
Because his stats this year were extremely impressive.
I suggest you look at his stats for this season before jumping to the assumption that he is 'over the hill'.
The only negative about Stevie J is the fact that he is guaranteed to miss 2/3 games a year through suspension.
Ability is not an issue.

Wanted - Stevie J, Benelle, Kreuzer possibly Yaran. We need to have a big off season in the trades department. That's whats ruined us. WE have the depth of the shallow end.
