Poor
inamedthegiants got invited over to the Pies board to supposedly back up their claims about Treloar always wanted to go to the Pies and when he doesn't they do nothing but hurl abuse at him because he states that what we've said about Treloar preferring us until late in the piece was true.
We were the first club to put 2 first round picks on the table for Treloar and haven't deviated from that stance, in fact that offer is still sitting their if the Pies continue to believe that they can get the deal done for pick 7 and a VFL player, when everyone knows that the Giants are after picks only as they want to have points available to enable them to get their academy kids without going into deficit for next year. If I understand the future picks trading, GWS would lose their own first round pick next year if they owed points but would get to keep our pick in the first round.
So I guess now the ball is in the Pies court as far as Treloar is concerned, pony up pick 7 this year and a possible top 10 pick from next years stronger draft for Treloar as well as $750k in cap space or let him go. If they don't I know we're there waiting in the wings just like we were with Judd when he went to Carlton and that made Carlton pay a big price, one that came back to haunt them down the track.
In all honesty I think we've moved on from Treloar and focusing on other deals like Bennell/Redden/Kreuzer/Yarran. However we keep hanging around in the background saying that if GWS don't get the deal they want from the Pies we're ready to go. To facilitate that I believe we're working on deals that would land us those players without trading out our first round picks until Treloar is signed and sealed for the Pies or anyone else.
At the very least we're going to make someone pay big to get the kid, not sure the Pies who are still rebuilding their list are going to want to go down that path.
