I guess we just differ in our opinions of what our club needs for prolonged success.

I'm not saying we should be hawking Lennon on a street corner, and knowing my record he'll probably announce a new contract tomorrow.

Just saying that he hasn't signed, we need at least to contemplate what to do or what we'd want if he (uncontracted) said I'm off

Well, he hasn't signed, has he.

Had every opportunity and it's pretty bold for a second year player who wasn't getting a game when he decided to put off a contract.

Lions are hard pressed to pay the minimum cap. If you have Freo offering McCarthy $700k I wouldn't be at all surprised if Lions were slapping $1.2m over 3 years in front of Lennon.

So, imagine for a moment that he is going.

Draft pick? Not in this draft thanks. We don't want to replace a 2 year player with another kid, especially in a crap/ shallow draft. Our time is now/ in the next 3-5 years.

So, if he wanted to go to the Lions, I'd be after a really smooth mover who was rated very very highly in his draft year. Higher than Lennon ever was, that's for sure.

Yes, I'd be OK with Aish for Lennon
I'd prefer Redden.

Would be gutted if Lennon left, but if he did a straight swap for Aish would be a pretty reasonable deal. Neither club would be losing out. It would be a shame though because Lennon fits a need.

I will be livid if we don't go hard at Bennell. This is a rare chance to get top line talent cheaply. Usually gun players demand multiple draft picks or massive salaries, or sometimes both.

At a guess, I'd say our first rounder and a salary of $500,000 would be pretty close to getting it over the line. He wouldn't break the bank (Danger, Franklin) and the farm wouldn't need to be sold (Judd, Beams).

Wouldn't read a lot into him not signing yet. Grimes only signed today. The club will move thru its list in priority order with who they want. I say if not signed with in 2 weeks he may be gone. Maybe hes asking to much. He hasn't done a lot to date although I see a future He should only be paid with what we have seen so far

I think Bennell is on circa $500k currently and I read somewhere there is an expectation that GC would pay part of that for the balance of his contract (2 years?)

So, yeah, dirt cheap.

He was kicked out of the AIS for being a knob. He has had a lot of second chances.

Still, I'd love to take a swing

Do we take much out of Vickery bringing up Lennon in the same breath as "natural development of the side" also mentioned Brandon Ellis. This was from his interview with SEN.
I can't see us trading him, I don't think he would leave either. Im confident.

He just got dropped for a final off the back of a RS nomination. I saw him at training the day before the final and he looked as flat as a tack.

If he's being wooed elsewhere, I reckon he'd be listening to the pitch.
Just don't know what to make of it all to be honest with him. No point worrying about, it if he goes he goes.

Our season literally finished four days ago. Now if I were an profession AFL player I most likely would not of had a drink in a number of weeks and would currently be playing catch up rather then worrying about any contract especially as he has a number of weeks to sort that out before trade week commences.
