If we had the Space to field a competitive offer to trelor I cant understand why there is not more hype around us going for Bennell. We have many Trelor types, but only a few x factor type players like Bennell. We have clearly managed Dusty well and with the clubs support he is turning into a reasonably well rounded young man, where in a lesser environment god knows what would have happened to him. I would be more than happy to throw our first rounder and even a fringe player at the GC for Harley. Our premiership odds would be crunched for next year if we were to land him and Yarran.

Probably cause everyone we get into gets ripped off us so by staying quiet we might land one:) So has Yarran come out and said he want's to come to us or is it just us talking as i haven't heard anyone from the club expressing interest?

Yarran and Bennel would make us so much more dangerous, it is worth the risk and Gold Coast will probably only want a first rounder. Please get it done Richmond.
Scott Clayton on Radio yesterday said they were looking to get best possible deal, around pick six was talked about, it will all come down to being able to get a fair deal done. Hawks and Demons also into him.

I reckon we are trying to do something like this:

Get Yarran for our second pick.
Get Scott Selwood via free agency.
Keep our first pick in the draft.
Keep our eyes open for other smaller opportunities.

I don't think we will trade Griffiths or Vickery based on the current selection policy.

I don't think we would trade McBean unless he demanded to leave.

I don't think we will trade Astbury because of depth and I doubt he would want to leave unless the money was considerably better elsewhere.

The currency of our other players is minimal at best.

We have shown interest in Dangerfield to help put up the price.
We have shown interest in Motlop to make Geelong pay him more.

Geelong may still have a bit left in the cap but are also after Henderson which will cost them a bit.

I reckon we are going to offer Selwood somewhere in the vicinity of 1.6-1.8 for 4 years with a fair portion being allocated to this year.

Just my logic as Selwood fits our age profile and niggling injuries have reduced his value/visibility.

Selwood has re-signed unofficially as said on SEN during the week.

Yeah all this talk of selwood wanting to leave but why on earth would he?
They say to play with Joel ???
His other brother works for eagles so he has one there
His team is flying and flag faves and geel are dropping
And I believe he's still vice captain of this club
Don't see why he would leave

With Collingwood about to sign 15 players, I wonder what would fall out of the tree once it's shaken.
Could be some very cheap and east pick ups...our specialty.
I don't mind Seedsman.
He won the ANZAC day medal once, apart from that, yeah...

Brings us back in the hunt for Treloar to be honest.
GWS suddenly looking short on the KPP front.

Thoughts?
A comparison to us.
Tall forwards
Cameron, Patton, Finlayson, Stewart,Tomlinson. Besides GWS have emphatically stated McCarthy wont be going anywhere. Four are first round picks and one a second round.
If they all turn out okay and get close to their potential they will be in a good place. Even if only three make it they will be in a good place. Imo it is inevitable they will lose two of them for no other reason than lack of opportunity.

Riewoldt, McKenzie, Vickery, Griffiths, McBean. Seems to me looking forward GWS are in a better position than us with their tall forwards especially when you consider the last three Vickery, Griffiths, and McBean are all considered ruck/forwards. Based purely on numbers we have room for at least one more key forward on our list.

Tall defenders
Corr, Davis, Marchbank, Mohr, Plowman, Patful, Tomlinson, could even place Nick Haynes here a genuine tall at 192cm who can play on talls and smalls and provide some run. Imo Tomlinson will be high quality at either end of the ground. He provides massive flexability during games.
Five of those mentioned are first round picks

Astbury, Chaplin, Elton, Grimes, Rance.
Imo take Rance out of the equation and it looks damn ordinary. As for numbers we are short at least one tall defender on the list. A high quality one is needed imo.

Ruckmen
Downie, Lobb, Mumford, Phillips. They have three young developing ruckmen They could possibly do with a ready to go ruckman to cover for injury to Mumford in the immediate future.

Maric, Hampson, Soldo,
Mcbean, Griffiths, and Vickery. All second string ruckmen who play forward.
Imo we need another junior front line ruckman on our list because of the quality of the last two. We can also do without one of the three Ruck forwards imo.

To conclude if Gws are looking short on the kpp front then we are even more so.
We have some top end talent in each area but we drop away badly imo. We also have some age issues with Maric and Chaplin both 30 plus next year.

If we do nothing about our talls in the off season and go into the year with the same list of tall's then we remain really vulnerable to the injury gods.
Imo if we were to lose Rance, Riewoldt and even Maric then we wont be winning games.
That's just three players, one kpd, one kpf and one ruck. We drop away so much in these areas after these three we are vulnerable. Sooner or later Riewoldt is going to have a yr full of injury and the same can be said of Rance. We have already seen how much we struggle with out Alex the few times he has missed in recent years. We have seen what the loss of Maric has done to us when injured. We are yet to suffer the consequences of no Riewoldt for a sustained period.

To me a big part of list management is all about covering your bases and continually raising the standard we really dont have the bases covered and we really do need to keep raising the bar.
To win a premiership we all know you can't rely on one player in each area. Atm that is what we do imo.

It depends on a number of factors but these are the key reasons a player would move clubs to finish their career:

- Guaranteed money - West Coast may only be offering a two year deal at 300-350k, 4-5 years at 400k+ sets him up more post football career.
This is probably the number 1 reason he would leave.

Others include family, friends, post football career, media opportunities, other opportunities.

Griff can be shopped as far as I'm concerned.

I was against it but now I've changed my mind.

Ditto with Conca - although I've never rated the injury prone lasagne eater that has terrible disposal.

We need a ruck.

We need to replace Chaplin, Batchelor, Hunt, Grigg.

We need a crumber that can read packs.

6 needs for 2016.

Our obvious need is a big clearance winning inside midfielder.

Yeah, the defence looked bad, but the ball only came down so much because we were smashed in contested ball.

I can also see a need for another big key defender. We didn't have a good one on one matchup for Waite outside of Rance and he was already occupied with Petrie
