Sick of hearing about "We'll look to improve our midfield depth etc" year after year. **** The midfield! Improve Other Areas ffs!

Ive been more interested in who we getting over how we were going to go today has i felt lack of enough class talent in our team would hurt us, its one thing to beat good teams home and away, but come finals every single player wants to do give their best resulting in generally lower quality teams with too many less talented players sttuggling, we need more top shelf to stop opposition teams easily aiming and indentifying our handfull of better players, cotchin, edwards, ellis, played some of the poorest games ive ever seen, no accident here, north seen beating handfull of stars would win them the game, the end result flattered us, we were statistically murdered.

Cellis,Butler,Menadue,Short,Drummond,McKenzie,Costagna are all just developing in the magoo's

sure not all will make it but there is alot of young talent thats looked pretty good at times this year

who know which will be the next McIntosh thats going to jump out of the blocks in 2016 & Combined with another year into Lennon,Mcbean as well as 2-3 new recruits - Its not hard to see a different Dynamic emerging just next year

Benell,Carlisle,Yarran are really the types we are craving for

Astbury/Griffiths + 2nd selection for Carlisle would be a massive win for our club

I'd look at any player, of any position, who will play their guts out. Watching the replay of the second half when I got home it stood out who didn't have a crack (Cotchin, Deledio in particular didn't stand up), and who did (Miles, McIntosh). Talent is all well and good, but I'd rather a good honest battler who plays like they care, than a superstar talent who throws in the towel when it gets hard.

Don't get me wrong, he's still a very good player, but Cotch should forego some of his $800k to help land someone who'll give a stuff when it actually matters.

#1 - Harley Bennell (2015 1st rounder)
#13 - Chris Yarran (2015 2nd rounder)
#22 - Jake Carlisle ( Astbury/Griffiths +2016 2nd rounder)
#32 - Patrick Dangerfield ( F/a - throw 1 million at him for 7 years) If we lose 1 going the other way then so be it, need to make a move now

Would think Carlisle would worth more than that plus $$. There's bout 5 clubs chasing him

I've heard whispers from someone who is usually spot on with these sort of things that Tomlinson for our first 1st rounder is 95% over the line. Only need to sort out the number of years. We're offering 3 but he's pushing for 4.

Replacements from yesterdays final:

Garland for Batch
  • Never been a big fan of Batchelor namely as he is average under pressure and isn't involved in a lot of link up/rebounding play. Whilst yesterday showed he can be exploited due to his lack of size. Garland isn't too different to Batch but he is improvement nonetheless, whether that be cooler under pressure or better against talls like Waite due to the small size advantage he has over Batch.
Luey for Maric
  • Not the greatest of fans of Luenberger but he fixes our biggest weakness for certain games, which of course is a lack of clearances against sides with good tap ruck man. Improving this area will see the biggest gain than improving any other area as all of a sudden more of our midfielders can take up more attacking positions at stoppages and the need for a big bodied inside mid becomes less apparent.
Yarran for Newy
  • More speed, which will mean either teams won't attack as hard going forward knowing they will caught out if they commit a turnover or if they do attack then we can exploit them.
Plus the prize jewel. Have no idea who that would be at this stage but someone like Bennell or if the Treloar deal falls through then Treloar. As things stand though preferably Bennell for our 2017 first rounder.

Batch, Astbury and McBean plus picks as trade bait, but only if the right deal comes up. Would like to package our first, Astbury and Batch to move up in this years draft but need to wait and see what our pick actually ends up as.

GWS third tall forward type. Hasnt played much at all this season but has pretty big wraps. Bit of a swingman who can go back too. Cant see them getting rid of him tbh
If he hasn't played much why not? but do we really need to go after players that can't get a game with their teams? Miles was a fluke and took us ages to find out also.

Dangerfield is the only player worth looking at .
Carlisle / Yarran / Bennel are all being moved on because they lack commitment and are disruptive to club culture . Connors had more ability than any of them and was moved on for the same reason .Carlisle , FFS is about to get two years out of the game .

One role players who may be good / great players within that role but place way to much workload upon others and need to be replaced.
Martin - disgraceful inside and defensive game
Houli- no right side or inside game

Macintosh , Vlaustin , Lennon and CEllis need the whole 2016 pre season working on being a inside mid .

I think yesterday showed how badly we need big bodied mids and a ruckman, I love Maric but he is getting monstered by good ruckman these days....

FWIW I thought considering how much ball went forward yesterday our backs held up pretty well, Waites first half goals were all hit up leads, not much Bachelor could have done about them

So much of this. I love the big fella as much as anyone else. Hes proved me wrong more often than not but have a look at our 4 losses in the last half of the season.

Kangaroos Goldstein>>>>>Maric
Crows Jacobs>>>>>>>>>>>>Maric
Dockers Sandilands>>>>>>>>Maric
Eagles Naitanui>>>>>>>>Maric

Every time we were smashed in the middle as the opposition ruckman smashed us. Problem is really good ruckman are tough to acquire

I'd be more looking at the coaching panel before playing list, Hardwick has proven yet again he can only take us so far and cannot motivate the boys on the 3 biggest days we've had, he has done a fantastic job to stabilize the club and get us to this point but it's not in him to go the next level

Next problem is we need pace and line breakers so Yarran, Bennell are musts
I think Castagna is another and he will play a lot of senior footy for us next year
Also need medium size forward, how many times did we come from down back through the middle and no one was there? We had 3 talls and none were inside 50
We need a gunston type who can mark but also mobile

It actually isn't a bad thing if Richmond lose guns while securing other guns. This team as a union have deficiencies in the core, so to shake the list up a little may actually pay off.

The core needs a bit of a change up in order to win a final, whether it is losing some core players while replacing them with other star players or (preferably) pushing some of the core players to the fringe after bringing in elite talent.

I'd only consider Rance and maybe Deledio as elite in Richmond's team, so they are the only two I'd say are not worth losing. I'd also keep Dustin Martin and Jack Riewoldt even though I don't consider them as elite, but other than them, I'd lose any player to gain a Dangerfield or Nat Fyfe type.

The bottom line is, Richmond does not have enough elite players to be extremely competitive. Dangerfield should have been a must to chase in the club's perspective this off season. Richmond's A-graders are just not good enough

Need Smith from Suns as our ruckman.I have a feeling that after been omitted from yesterday's game Lennon probably seek a trade rightly so imo.Need a small forward like a Garlett or Daniel Rioli in the draft.Need another inside mid so Dusty can start inside 50.Yarran half back for Newman would be ideal

Yeah how bad was Jack yesterday?? Definitely not elite. What is it now? 6 50+ goal seasons? Definitely an average footballer.
