FoxFooty just analysed our main source of scoring...rebounding from the backline..every other coach knows this and has for seasons.
In R1 we scored 56 from rebound and won
In R2 we scored 23 and lost
In R3 we scored 57 and won
In R4 we scored 8 and lost
So why do we rely on just Houli?? I've been saying this for ages, if we want to play rebound footy WE NEED A DANGEROUS REBOUNDING PLAYER.
Batchelor can't play this role either and Rance will soon be forward tagged.
Its a simple solution in the short term. Play lids off the hbf with houli.

One more question before I go out for a frothie... if we need to trade a good player out this year, would you guys prefer to trade a fully fit Conca or B. Ellis?
If it were me.. I'd probably prefer to trade B. Ellis.
Probably holds more value, but I'd be more prepared to trade him because tbh his greatest strength is his running capacity..but he's not that quick and he can't lay a tackle, often goes missing... In a better midfield (+Shiel), Conca will offer us more. We will be able to address "elite running capacity" with Menadue and Drummond when he's recovered.
..just racking the brain here.

Not b.ellis. trade conca if he plays average. Conca could also play that hbf role for us imo

Deledio. Lennon. Both should be in the backline using their skills and providing run.

Vlastuin should be full time mid. In and under. See ball, get ball. Help Cotchin. A Brad Sewell type.

We need an exciting small forward who can do the defensive stuff. Hence why I made a mention to Yarran. Nights like last night show we miss this type as Shane Edwards had to do dual roles.

The list can be fixed. With not too much work. We just need a better coach.

From last night:

In: Grimes, Chaplin, Yarran, S. Selwood, Shiel, Deledio, Elliot, Conca
Out: McDonough, Arnot, Gordon, Lloyd, Batchelor, Morris, Grigg, Drummond.

I'll eat my words on Chaplin. I still don't think he has the ball skills, he is quite slow IMO and is a campaigner however our backline cannot function without him.
As for Batchelor, it's him or Grimes... both have good skill sets. Either either.

B: Dylan Grimes/ Jake Batchelor, David Astbury, Troy Chaplin
HB: Bachar Houli, Alex Rance, Chris Yarran
C: Brandon Ellis, Trent Cotchin, Kamdyn McIntosh
HF: Brett Deledio, Ben Griffiths, Shane Edwards
F: Dustin Martin, Jack Riewoldt, Jamie Elliot
Int: Anthony Miles, Reece Conca, Nick Vlastuin
Sub: Taylor Hunt

You've picked the perfect players to omit. They're all awful.

Bachelor, Lloyd, Grigg, Morris all need the chop at the end of the season.

Clurey is a good shout. How's he going over there? Was a good junior player.

Yep Francis Jackson out. Blair Hartley out.

Jackson had to go 3 years ago, but he will stay until he wants to go. Got a feeling Benny and Dan Richardson love his work.

Not fussed with Hartley, reckon he is easily replaceable.

We are too nice down at Punt Road.
