Im confused. Are you trying to say that Lennon and C.Ellis are not A grade talents?
Not yet.

Im talking about recruiting from other clubs. Instead of recruiting the bargain basement, we need to get in some quality.

Im not interested in any players who may or may not break out and make it.
I want proven guns. Time to target quality or we will never see a flag.

Dangerfield
Sloane
Hannerbery
Parker
Prestia
Bennell
Zack Smith (Not proven but he is subject to my rule)
Sheil
J.Elliot (People will have their differences but I rate him highly)
Sidebottom
Yarran (Same as Elliot)

One player who I would love at our club but it will never happen
Joel Selwood. Get him and we win a flag.

The problem is that when you target proven quality you have give up significant assets in order to obtain them and are essentially chucking all your eggs in one basket. So for it too work out you need to have enough of the foundations set in place so that it doesn't backfire like Judd and Carlton otherwise you become a treadmill team whereby you improve to a certain point but never my enough to take you to any glory. Which I think as a club we are now at that stage and were bordering on it last off-season but given it was a strong draft went down that route instead.

This off season I highly doubt we have any picks in the top 30 and will look to make some big moves. The biggest problem however is if we don't improve between now and the end of the season as we will struggle to entice players to come but will have the cap space to perhaps compensate for that.

Dangerfield, and we loose players due to price - Well worth the sacrifice. Lets keep paying our shit players and never win a flag.
Sloane, front runner - Considering our current list cant play well against shit sides Sloan is perfect than.
Hannerbery , piss head amongst other insinuations - Swan, Martin, Franklin just to name a few. Who ******* cares!
Parker, in consistant - As aposed to everyone else on our list? An upgrade on 15 players on our list
Prestia, midget - Wins his own Ball
Bennell , outside as they come - Plonk him in the forward line and let him work his magic. Could kick 50 in a season
Zack Smith (Not proven but he is subject to my rule) , you said not proven I agree :thumbsu:
Sheil , showing great signs :thumbsu:
J.Elliot (People will have their differences but I rate him highly) , restricted in role he can play - Kicking goals?
Sidebottom , slow and lacks defensive mindset - Upgrade on Grigg not everyone needs to be 100% defensive
Yarran (Same as Elliot) NO - Rotating between HF and HB with Deledio? Yes Please
Funnily enough when posting my list you were the first that came to mind in regards to criticism.
Not a bad thing. :thumbsu:

Surely we have something cooked up. We have heard about this "war chest" for two years. It honestly seems as if we have had something planned for a while now and this preseason is when we do it.

If we don't pick up a genuine A grader/ potential A grader this preseason I will be filthy.

They haveto get atleaats one quality player in this year. Sik of hearing it. Personally I would try and get either hannnebrey or shiel, I'd have a real crack
at Yarran and Elliot( I don't think ppl realise how good Yarran is and would b awesome for us. If a talented player wants to move and we have the money I would go for them it's not as if we have that much quality in our side.

Chris Yarran, not for me. Is allergic to winning a hard ball. He may have great leg speed and is able to break the lines but his delivery inside 50 is shocking and I think it is fair to say we have enough of that at the moment (poor delivery inside 50).
Why not go all guns blazing for Shiel or Dangerfield and get the best of both worlds? Preferably Shiel due to his age and his existing connections with the club.

I'm not 100% convinced on dangerfield. I think the type of player hannerbrey is would suit us better.

I'd much rather a soft Yarran getting 25 disposals off half back and cutting the opposition open ... Instead of half of our "hard nuts" who get 15-20 average disposals per game.

We need class and we desperately need run out of the backline.

I know I am dreaming but imagine this in 2016;

B- .Batchelor Astbury Chaplin
HB- .Yarran/Aish Rance Houli
C- .B.Ellis Cotchin Mcintosh
HF- .Martin Griffiths Deledio
F- .S.Edwards Riewoldt Vickery
R- .Maric - Miles - Shiel

Bench; C.Ellis, Vlastuin, Conca, McDonough, McBean, Hunt, Gordon, Grimes, Foley, Lennon, Petterd, Elton.

We would obviously lose some of the bench players and draft picks to bring in Shiel & Yarran/Aish.
